This weekend we have the last European date before the Asian tour, the Emilia-Romagna GP, which takes place at the Misano Marco Simoncelli circuit. The same venue where we experienced the San Marino GP two weeks ago, where Marc Márquez showed that what had happened at MotorLand was no coincidence.
It should be noted that this track is a repeat, something that had only happened during the COVID-19 era, to replace the cancelled Indian race. Although, theoretically, there was a prepared track, reality has meant that in order to maintain the final part of the championship in a similar way to that initially planned, the track located on the Adriatic coast has been used.
From a sporting point of view, it is difficult to know what the Emilia-Romagna GP will bring, because having contested not only the GP but the subsequent tests, it is to be expected that everything will be more compressed. And in a category where everything is decided by thousandths of a second, this means that it will be the details that can make the difference.
However, it is to be expected that Jorge Martín will try to make up for the mistake he made when he and Pecco were dominating the race and it started to rain. In fact, given what happened two weeks ago, it is to be expected that Bagnaia and Martín will carry the weight of the Emilia-Romagna GP with Marc Márquez’s permission, who will be looking for his third consecutive victory.
Obviously, the rest of the riders on the grid will have a lot to say, but Enea Bastianini will be another of the riders who cannot make any mistakes if he wants to stay close in the fight for a title that, honestly, right now still seems to be a two-man race, although it could get complicated if either of them fails again.
Fortunately, it does seem that the rain that affected both the Aragon and San Marino GPs for different reasons will not make an appearance on Saturday and Sunday, although we will have to wait and see how things develop.
