In recent times, Sling has experienced the two sides of the business world within the global automotive sector: on the one hand, it continues to be the commercial benchmark in the world of two wheels, while its automobile division has been burdened by the making of some corporate decisions that have ended in a true commercial fiasco. All of them related to the development and evolution of various electric car models.
“Honda is still Honda”… in the two-wheeled sector
It is nothing new that Honda continues to sweep the two-wheeled sector at a business level. In recent times it has become the reference brand for the rest of the world’s manufacturers. And that is saying a lot, based on the sales figures declared by the Chinese and Indian competitors, in full commercial effervescence.
Much of the blame for Honda’s success in terms of sales lies with its powerful presence in the main Asian markets. That is why in recent times it has announced the opening of a new line in one of the HMSI plants, although it is already working to further expand production capacity in other factories in the country. The intention is to go from the 6.25 million units manufactured currently to approximately 8 million units by 2028.
In its latest financial report, the Japanese brand confirms the general trend it has been showing in recent years. As detailed by Investing colleagues, who have had access to the document: “The motorcycle business emerged as the company’s best segment, with Honda achieving record sales of 16.44 million units, an operating profit of 546.5 billion yen and an impressive operating margin of 18.6%. This strong performance was mainly driven by robust sales in Asian markets.”
This contrasts with the losses presented by the company after being affected by various “foreign currency effects (-267.1 billion yen), one-time expenses related to electric vehicles (-289.8 billion yen), increase in R&D expenses (-111.0 billion yen), and tariff impacts.”
After exposure to this economic scenario, Honda has already proposed a battery of measures with which to face the new challenges posed by the automobile sector, being very clear about its objectives in the two-wheeled sector: continue dominating the international scene.
