On the occasion of a new edition of the famous Tokyo Motor Show, Yamaha has unveiled, among its many new features, its new Diapasón plug-in platform. With it, the Japanese firm intends to create a complete range of small vehicles with which to provide different services within cities to individuals and companies. To do this, it also uses a Honda Mobile Power Pack e: portable battery, thanks to the recent agreements signed with its compatriot, related to current mobility trends.
In recent months we have discussed this topic extensively, echoing those information in which Honda and Yamaha announced different collaboration agreements. Tuning fork, (formerly “Yamaha Motor Platform Concept”), is partly the result of these negotiations, and some of the concepts presented by Yamaha could become future mobility options within its range of light vehicles.
Different concepts within the Diapasón platform
There are up to seven models that Yamaha has presented at the Tokyo Motor Show, all of them developed on the new Diapasón platform. Under our criteria, three of them could be integrated into the motorcycle and light vehicle sectors. For example, the C160a minimal-sized single-seat all-terrain electric mobility vehicle that transcends the limits of mobility.
According to the brand itself, this “It embodies the charm of freedom. In addition to its unisex and urban style, its style expresses love for nature and free spirit. Equipped with LED strips, light emitters with various functions.” Another option that would be integrated into a possible range of models equipped with the Diapasón platform is the C682. This is shown as a 4-wheel drive quadricycle that also exhibits a truly evocative chromatic customization.
In it they show off the legendary Speed Block color scheme with which Roberts raced in the World Speed Championship with Yamaha in the late 70s. Halfway between a motorcycle, a quad and a light vehicle, the C682 exudes personality and a high level of versatility. Finally we have this C294, a futuristic tricycle that Yamaha describes as:
“A futuristic urban three-wheeled personal electric mobility vehicle that serves as a convenient and stylish means of transportation for urban living and adapts to the new lifestyles of a wide range of age groups. In addition to its Scandinavian design, its features include ease of driving thanks to simple functions and comfort thanks to IoT integration.”
All of them would be equipped with Yamaha’s EV technology, but also using a Honda Mobile Power Pack e: portable battery. A technological compendium that could redefine urban mobility in the coming years.
The union of two giants in the sector such as Honda and Yamaha can give rise to ideas as interesting as the EV Diapasón platform, or others developed by the golden wing firm exclusively, as it has been doing until now.
