Honda Montesa has presented the electrical project with which they will compete in the World Cup in Trial. This is the RTL Electric, a motorcycle with which they plan to face face to face with the rest of the combustion motorcycles of the championship. Something that we have already seen in the past with the Honda CR Electric Proto that also caused a sensation when facing gasoline motorcycles.
On this occasion, the one that is the great dominator of the trial world goes one step further to compete, face to face, with the RTL Electric to the rest of the peloton motorcycles. It seeks to take another step in the objective that the brand has to achieve carbon neutrality in all its corporate products and activities by 2025.
Of course, that is the general objective of Honda Montesa, but the objective of the project behind the RTL Electric is much more direct, because they claim that they want to achieve the title of Trial 2 and accelerate the development of electric vehicles to a high level.
There is no doubt that it is an important step in that direction, and that the RTL Electric has a great challenge ahead. In his favor is the fact that trial is a discipline that, like motocross, can end up benefiting a lot from electrification to be able to enjoy virtually anywhere and, also, the technical characteristics offered by trial motorcycles.
The RTL Electric challenge will start in less than a month in Benahavis
For now, and without knowing the real potential of the motorcycle in a championship as demanding as the World Cup, we do know that last year it came to the areas of the Japan championship winning the three appointments in which it participated, something that surely is not negative.
In any case, it is also a point in favor of the project to have a pilot like Miquel Gelabert, who at 27 already has experience and the title of European champion in his pocket. The first fire test will take place on April 5 and 6 in Benahavis (Spain), a GP that will be historical for Honda Montesa and Trial.
