Exclusive among the exclusives, this is the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP Carbon Edition. A special edition and of which there will only be 300 units worldwide. This makes it even more exclusive if possible, since they have been distributed according to the countries and some like ours have only received 10 units.
And it is no wonder, because the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP Carbon Edition is not “just” another edition. It has many elements that make the retail price it has had, which for our country stood at 37,000 euros, justified. And it is not little money, far from it, because the RRP of the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade is 25,000, so we are talking about 12,000 euros more and 7,200 more than the SP version with which it shares many features.
Why is the Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP Carbon Edition at that price?
Well, in addition to being such a limited edition, it is because it is a machine in which carbon is the protagonist. So much so that they have managed to save 1 kg compared to the total of the production motorcycle, with parts that have dropped between 10 and 40% of the original weight. It incorporates six components that are directly inspired by the Honda RC213V MotoGP and, furthermore, the carbon is not just any carbon. This is 3K and 12K prepreg carbon molded in an autoclave, just as is done with aeronautical parts.
These six components we are talking about start with the striking carbon spoilers, continue with the filter box cover, front and rear fenders and the lower fairing (keel).
Of course, mechanically speaking, the same engine and the same power are maintained, which reaches an impressive 217 HP at 14,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 12,000 rpm. Despite this power and performance, the noise level thanks to the standard Akrapovic exhaust ensures that the noise level is approved in urban conditions at 76.2 dB and at full throttle at 81.1.
Another point that it shares, in this case only with the SP, is the braking and suspension system. Four-piston Brembo Stylema R calipers with radial mounting are responsible for biting the 330 mm discs on the front, while at the rear the two-piston caliper does the same with a 220 disc.
The suspension section borders on excellence with a 43 mm Öhlins NPX S-EC telescopic fork adjustable in preload, compression and extension. While behind the swingarm with the Pro-Link system is served by an Öhlins TTX36 S-EC shock absorber also configurable in preload, compression and extension.
To all this we must add the quickshifter, traction control, cornering ABS, two-channel IMU, engine brake control and more electronic aids to be able to manage the beast both on the road and, especially, on the circuits.
