60 years later, the historic British brand is reborn with force. Adventure motorcycles, custom and scooters

It has taken almost six full decades for the British firm Phelon & Moore return to the current panorama within the two-wheeled sector. Like other European brands, Phelon & Moore is currently owned by a capital investment fund, and this is precisely the one in charge of relaunching such illustrious acronyms to the place where they should never have left: the world of motorcycles.

Phelon & Moore: 60 years in the forgotten drawer

As detailed on the new official Phelon & Moore website, it was in 1902 when the brand presented its first motorcycle prototype, equipping the engine as a prominent part of the chassis. Two years later, Joah C. Phelon and Richard Moore founded the brand and for the next few years supplied motorcycles to the Royal Flying during the First World War. It later became a supplier to the Royal Armored Corps when it added sidecars to its range of vehicles in 1922.

At that time the brand had models such as the 498 Tourer, with a single-cylinder engine and 3.5 HP of power. Meanwhile, he designed a 500 cc OHV engine to compete in the Tourist Trophy and would release models such as the 600 cc Panther 100 or the Panther Redwing in the following years, before ending up closing permanently in 1967.

Now, after passing through EICMA 2024, Phelon & Moore announces a new range of models made up of two ADV mounts, two custom models and two others included in the scooter segment. Both the Capetown 7X like the variant Capetown 7S They are equipped with the well-known 693 cm³ inline twin engine that was used in the Kawasaki ER-6 until 2016. The brand announces a maximum power of 74 hp at 8,500 rpmfor a curb weight of 240 kilograms.

The biggest difference between both variants lies in the type of rim used: radial type in the 7X version and alloy in the 7S. In both cases they share tire size, 120/70-19 at the front and 170/60-17 at the rear, although while the Capetown 7X uses a mixed rubber, this is of the Sport-Turismo type on the Capetown 7S. On the other hand, Phelon & Moore immerses itself in the custom world with the Panther C and Panther Sboth powered by a 573 cc V-Twin that delivers 55 HP and 52 Nm of torque.

As in the ADV models, in this case we come across two variants differentiated by the type of tire, as well as their level of finishes. One with a more classic cut and another more modernized version with black finishes or a more sporty style handlebar. Finally, Phelon & Moore offers us the Panthette .

In this case we find that in both models we can opt for a 125 cc version, while in the Panthette X we also have a 300 cc option. In its case, the Panthette S has the possibility of a 200 cc variant. All of them with powers that vary from 12 HP of the entry-level engine to the 23.5 HP of the 300 cc engine. According to our colleagues at Le Repaire des Motards:

“Phelon & Moore is currently building its distribution network for Europe and intends to begin marketing in the spring, starting with Italy. For other markets we will have to wait.”

There is no news for now on when we will have the new range of models from the British brand in our country.
