And no, it is not typical of American films, rather a reality according to statistics that have been collected during the celebration of this macro biker concentration. Without going any further, you just have to take an eye on the data recorded by the authorities of the place on the first day of celebration: 18 accidents and a deceased.
The Sturgis rally and the worrying statistics around the event
It is not the first time that we deal with this issue, since, year after year, Sturgis rally shows a worrying trend. We refer to the fact of the correlation of factors and subsequently facts that occur in this event, generally fruit of the participation of some uncivic and problematic bikers.
As detailed from Ride Apart, only on the first day of celebration, between Friday, August 1 and Saturday, day 2, the authorities of the area registered up to 18 accidents, with a dead in between in one of them. Apparently, “The motorcyclist involved in the fatal accident lost control of his motorcycle while driving in the west direction and slid towards the lanes in the east direction, impacting three other motorcycles.”
The others affected suffered serious injuries and investigated if any of those involved in this multiple accident used the helmet. Regarding the rest of the 18 confirmed accidents, 8 of those involved did not carry a helmet, for 7 they did. In 5 other events it is not very clear if they used this personal security element.
Looking back last year there were 12 deceased over the 10 days of celebrating the Sturgis rally, although it was in 2015 when all records were beaten, unfortunately, in terms of this statistic, with no less than 15 dead by traffic accident during the days that the well -known biker concentration lasts.

Finally, according to the data collected by the American media, there has been a total of “21 arrested for driving under the effects of alcohol, 31 arrests for minor crimes related to drugs and 14 arrests for serious drug -related crimes” in less than 24 hours.
In short, a serious problem that does not seem to be solved in the short term. Even taking into account that every year hundreds of thousands of people meet in the already legendary Sturgis rally.
