AMB 001 is a good example of this

We have been in the two-wheeled sector for a few years where everything that smells collectible, especially the so-called Old School ones, is sold at incredible prices. But like almost any trend, this approach also has its exceptions. One of them is the well-known and exclusive Brough Superior AMB 001a limited series frame (only 100 copies for the entire world), which does not seem to catch the eye of collectors and speculators… at the moment.

Another AMB 001 that does not exceed initial expectations

History repeats itself; An AMB 001 goes up for auction, specialists make public their estimates and these are ultimately not met. This is precisely what happened with unit 57 of the exclusive limited edition of 100 units of this dream motorcycle, where the maximum offer received for it was finally $101,000. To many this figure may seem like an achievement, but nothing could be further from the truth.

Among other things because at the time those lucky ones who managed to get one of the AMB 001 that went on sale in 2020, They had to disburse close to 120 thousand dollarsapproximately 100 thousand euros at the exchange rate. That is why it seems even strange that the bids for this impressive, never used example have not even reached the official sale price at that time.

In fact, it is not the first time something like this has happened. Already in 2022 we told you about the sale that was being carried out on Catawiki of copy number 11. It was finally awarded for a final price of 90,000 euros, although the initial estimates also exceeded this figure. At this point one wonders if what is undoubtedly one of the most exclusive motorcycles designed in recent decades does not really have the desired pull among collectors around the world. Or at least it hasn’t reached it for the moment.

Various factors come into play here and perhaps one of the most important among potential interested parties is the fact that we are dealing with a motorcycle that does not have approval to be ridden on public roads. It is simply an assumption although it can really have a great weight among those who are in a position to buy it, when deciding to invest such an amount of money in a collectible model of this type.

In any case, as explained in the Bring a Trailer sales announcement, this AMB 001 “features a carbon fiber body finished in Stirling Green and exposed gloss with Lime Essence accents, as well as a hand-stitched black leather solo saddle.” It is jealously guarded by its current owner in New Jersey and has never been used since it was purchased. Like the rest of the units that were marketed, the AMB 001 was delivered with manufacturer’s documentation, a rear support for the paddock and a smartphone.

There is no doubt that we are looking at a work of art of automotive engineering. Its aesthetics as well as the technical resources used in its development and subsequent manufacturing attest to this. He 180 HP 997cc 88-degree V-twin engineis equipped with a variable geometry turbocharger with an intercooler and a low inertia turbine is a clear example of what we are talking about.

All this without mentioning the huge amount of components made of carbon fiber and a long list of CNC machined accessories. In short, living history of the world of motorcycles, although it seems that the time has not yet come when astronomical figures will begin to be paid for it, which will come, it will come. Who knows, maybe getting one of these right now could become a financial success… What do you think?
