Continental has announced an important strategic move in its commercial policy, after announcing the start of the manufacture of radial motorcycle tires in its plant located in Rayong, Thailand. This move represents an important milestone for the brand, not only for increasing its production capacity.
It is also important for consolidating a global network capable of responding more quickly and flexibly to market needs. The Thai plant will work in coordination with the facilities that the company already has in Korbach, Germanyone of the brand’s great historical motorcycle tire production centers.
Continental focused on meeting its international demand
The Rayong facility has been designed to manufacture both radial and bias tyres, thus covering different segments and driving styles. From sport-touring tires to models more focused on adventure motorcycles, the plant will expand the production capacity of some of Continental’s most important ranges.
Additionally, the factory incorporates fully integrated manufacturing processes. From the production of rubber compounds to the final assembly of the tire, all phases are carried out within the facilities themselves following Continental’s global quality standards.
According to Christoph Ettenhuber, head of Continental’s motorcycle tire area, this expansion will allow the brand to respond more quickly to international demand while maintaining the same premium quality standards in any market.
Automation and quality control at every stage
One of the most important aspects of this new phase of production is the high level of automation of the plant. Continental has opted for automatic control and monitoring systems capable of supervising each phase of the manufacturing process.
All components are continually verified to guarantee that they meet the specifications set by the company. To do this, the factory uses automatic measurement systems, control cameras and digital tools that allow each tire produced to be precisely checked.
In addition to improving final quality, this automation also helps reduce potential manual errors and create a safer, more ergonomic work environment for plant employees. In addition, Rayong’s new production line will manufacture tires designed for different user profiles and types of motorcycle.
Continental confirms that among the products already in production are radial models for sport-touring motorcycles, as well as diagonal tires intended for the adventure segment. With this, the brand seeks to strengthen its global presence in different markets and better adapt to the needs of motorcyclists with very different uses, from sports driving on the road to long-distance trips or mixed routes.
Another of the highlights of the Thai plant is the obtaining of the IATF certificationachieved in March 2026. This international recognition, common within the automotive sector, certifies that the factory meets demanding quality and reliability standards for original equipment manufacturers.
The Rayong expansion is also part of Continental’s sustainability strategy. The plant uses solar energy and currently covers around 13% of your electrical needs through renewable sources. In addition, this growth will generate new jobs and strengthen the local economy of the region.
