Sling continues to expand its industrial capacity worldwide. Now, the Japanese brand has recently inaugurated a modern motorcycle factory in Aliağa, in the Turkish province of Izmir (Izmir), a 100,000 square meter facility that will be able to reach an annual production of up to 200,000 units. This is what we told you at the time.
Although these figures already reflect the importance of the project, the company insists that the true objective of this investment goes far beyond increasing production…
A strategic investment for the future of Honda
The new facility becomes the 38th motorcycle manufacturing plant Sling throughout the world, and represents another step in the global growth strategy of the Japanese firm.
As explained Hans De Jaegerpresident of Honda Motor Europe, during an interview published in the corporate series «Honda Stories«Türkiye not only offers a market with a strong demand for motorcycles, but also constitutes a strategic enclave to continue developing 2-wheeled mobility in the region. Aliağa’s choice was not coincidental. Its location, with important logistical and industrial connections, will allow optimization of distribution both within the Turkish market and to other nearby countries.

Türkiye, a market that continues to grow
Sling has been obtaining excellent commercial results in Türkiye for years. In fact, the brand led the country’s motorcycle market for the eleventh consecutive year during 2025, consolidating a privileged position in a sector that continues to grow driven by the increase in urban mobility and the search for cheaper transportation alternatives.
Precisely this sustained growth has been one of the main factors that have led to Sling to bet on local production with greater capacity. The initial forecast contemplates a production of up to 200,000 motorcycles per year, a figure that will allow us to respond more quickly to market demand and reduce dependence on other international plants.

Much more than manufacturing Honda motorcycles
One of the most interesting aspects of the project is that Sling He does not consider this factory solely as an industrial center. Hans De Jaeger He highlighted that the company also intends to contribute to the economic development of the area by creating jobs, strengthening the network of local suppliers and generating new opportunities for the auxiliary industry.
But, the objective goes even one step further. From Sling They consider that a greater industrial presence can help consolidate an authentic 2-wheel culture in Turkey, promoting access to two-wheeled vehicles and reinforcing their role as an everyday mobility solution.
The growth of the Turkish market has been especially significant in recent years. High inflation and the increase in the cost of using a car have led many citizens to opt for motorcycles as a regular means of transportation, boosting sales of scooters and low and medium displacement models. This scenario makes the country one of the markets with the greatest potential for international manufacturers, which is why Sling has decided to reinforce its industrial presence there.

The opening of this new plant also fits within the Japanese manufacturer’s global strategy of bringing production closer to markets where there is greater demand. In addition to improving delivery times, this model allows you to reduce logistics costs and increase manufacturing flexibility in the face of market fluctuations.
Thus, as we mentioned at the beginning, with a planned capacity of 200,000 motorcycles per year and an area equivalent to about 14 football fields, the new Turkish factory is emerging as one of the most important facilities in Sling in the region. A project that will not only strengthen the brand’s production, but also aspires to become an economic and social driver for one of the industrial areas with the greatest projection in the Mediterranean.

When asked why Türkiye has become strategic for Sling, Jaeger He replied: “We have seen how the motorcycle market in Türkiye has continued to grow in recent years, with many young customers getting on a motorcycle for the first time. This growing demand not only represents a great business opportunity for Honda, but also a possibility to continue developing a strong motorcycle culture in Türkiye..”
Jaeger He added: “This investment underlines our long-term commitment to the European region, and to Türkiye in particular. We see great opportunities here and want to continue growing our business sustainably. By continuing to invest in local production, innovation and partnerships, we can create lasting value for our customers, our partners and society at large.”.
To conclude, the director of the golden wing house declared: “Like all of our facilities, this new factory has been developed with a strong focus on environmental and social responsibility, in line with Honda’s global standards. As part of our Triple Action for Zero commitment, which seeks carbon neutrality by 2050, we aim to minimize environmental impact and maximize positive contributions to the communities in which we operate..”
