For years, equipment intended for adventure riding has inevitably been associated with bulky, rigid clothing loaded with layers, zippers and reinforcements. An almost military image that can be suitable for facing long journeys, although it does not always offer the best balance between comfort, aesthetics and freedom of movement.
With the Frontier set, SPIDI proposes a different interpretation. The Italian firm seeks to demonstrate that a jacket and pants for motorcycle travel can offer certified protection, adjustable ventilation and abrasion resistance without enveloping the rider in excessively heavy armor.
The range consists of the Frontier Jacket, the Frontier Pants and the Frontier Thermorain, a more versatile version that incorporates a removable thermal and waterproof layer. All of them share a stylized design and a construction developed to accompany the natural movements of the body both on the asphalt and when the route continues along tracks.
A stylized adventure set
The Frontier Jacket and Frontier Pants are made primarily of nylon-based Stretch Performance fabric, to which 4% elastane is added. This combination seeks to maintain good resistance to tearing and abrasion, but at the same time providing the necessary elasticity so that the garments do not limit the driving posture.
The jacket has a medium length and a relatively slim fit for an adventure garment. The pants follow the same philosophy, with a slightly raised waist and a proportioned design that avoids the excess volume common in some outfits intended for big trips.
For the 2026 season, SPIDI also incorporates a new blue and black color combination, which provides a more contemporary image without abandoning the technical character of the set.
Ergonomic work is especially appreciated in the different regulation systems. The Frontier Jacket features micrometric adjustment at the waist, elastic inserts on the forearms and an ergonomically designed collar that can be kept open while walking.
The pants, for their part, have Ergofit lumbar adjustment, adjustment of the position of the knee pads and zippers in the lower leg area. This last solution allows them to be used over enduro or motocross boots, a particularly interesting feature for those who alternate road and off-road driving.
Adjustable ventilation for the hottest days
Although the Frontier set has not been conceived as exclusively summer equipment, SPIDI has paid special attention to airflow management.
The jacket has two large front ventilation panels, while the pants incorporate air inlets on the thighs. These panels can be opened or closed depending on the temperature and use magnetic closures to facilitate handling.
The possibility of regulating ventilation is especially useful on adventure routes, where conditions can vary considerably throughout the same day. A slow track section, for example, requires much more physical effort than a highway section, so being able to quickly increase airflow can make a significant difference in terms of comfort.
The outer fabric of the garments also receives a Teflon treatment that offers initial resistance to water and dirt. It does not replace a completely waterproof membrane, but it does provide protection against splashes or light rain.
The set also includes numerous pockets and a perimeter zipper that allows the jacket and pants to be joined. This union improves continuity between both garments and prevents the jacket from moving in the event of a fall.
Certified protection for traveling by motorcycle
The Frontier Jacket is certified as a Class AA motorcycle protection garment. As standard, it includes removable level 2 protectors on shoulders and elbows.
The jacket is also prepared to install compatible back protection and chest protectors, although these elements are sold separately.
The Frontier Pants are class A certified and include Warrior Lite level 2 protection on the knees. These knee pads can be adjusted in height to better adapt to the anatomy of each user and keep the protection correctly positioned.
The pants also allow you to add level 2 hip protectors, thus expanding the level of coverage of the set.
SPIDI encompasses part of these solutions under technologies such as TexTech and Warrior Tech. The first is related to the development and selection of technical fabrics, while Warrior Tech focuses on the design of protections capable of absorbing impacts without compromising ergonomics.
The objective is for the protections to follow the shapes of the body, remain in their position and not interfere with normal movements while driving.
Frontier Thermorain: greater climatic versatility
For those looking for a set capable of performing in more varied weather conditions, SPIDI offers the Frontier Thermorain.
This jacket maintains the slim fit, ventilation panels and stretch of the Frontier Jacket, but adds a removable Thermorain inner jacket. This second layer incorporates a waterproof, windproof and breathable H2OUT membrane, as well as 60 grams of thermal insulation.
The inner layer connects using SPIDI’s Step-In Wear system, allowing it to be installed or removed depending on temperature and trail conditions.
It can also be used independently once the rider gets off the motorcycle. In this way, the base layer can function as a light jacket during a stop or at the end of the stage, avoiding having to carry additional clothing.
This configuration makes the Frontier Thermorain a more suitable alternative for mid-season routes, long-distance trips or trips through areas where rain and temperature changes are frequent.
