The latest great superbike sharpens its claws in the Pininfarina wind tunnel

If you review the best-selling models month by month, you will not find a superbike among them, not even an average sports bike. We are talking about the spectacular V4SR-RR, the motorcycle with which the Chinese manufacturer captured the attention of everyone present at the last EICMA and which is getting closer to its final version. One of the things that, precisely, caught the most attention about this bike was its aerodynamics, an aerodynamics that they are now fine-tuning.

To do so, they have turned, as with other elements, to external and renowned suppliers. They do not want to miss the mark and have gone with the prototype, to the outskirts of Turin, to test the new model in the Pininfarina wind tunnel.

The tests, of which there is a video showing part of the process, have served to fine-tune the aerodynamic part with and without a pilot. We must not forget that one of the peculiarities that motorcycles have in their general dynamics is that, unlike other vehicles, how the driver is positioned greatly influences the behavior and, even more, the aerodynamics.

Another aspect that can be seen in the video is that they test the aerodynamics also with inclination and, that is another great differentiating aspect when it comes to testing it on motorcycles versus cars. In addition to the fact that the CFMOTO V4SR-RR has active aerodynamics, which works differently in a curve than in a straight line, the aerodynamic load and how the spoilers work varies depending on the degrees.

What’s more, if anything has been learned in recent years in which aerodynamic appendages have been increasing, especially in MotoGP, but also in the most select superbikes, it is that it is essential to find the balance to achieve load when necessary but without compromising cornering and maneuverability.

What this test of the V4SR-RR shows is that CFMOTO is taking its super sports car very seriously. So much so that there are those who think that he is fine-tuning it to enter the WSBK as early as 2027. Are they right?
