Guillem Farrés has once again made the difference in the MX2 World Championship. The Spanish driver, who arrived in the Czech Republic as the leader of the championship, leaves the thirteenth Grand Prix of the season with his fourth consecutive victory and increasing the distance with his pursuers.
This time, yes, the weekend has not been perfect for Farrés, who began the defense of the red plate with third position in the qualifying race. Accustomed to the dominance of recent weekends, that third place may not have been enough, but on Sunday things began to change as the fence hit the ground.
In the first race Guillem came out with everything to place second behind Janis Reisulis, behind whom he was part of the race until halfway through the race he launched the attack that put him in the lead. From that moment on he began to set the pace that led him to cross the finish line in first position.
Already on Sunday, after another good start, Farrés was once again in second position with Liam Everts ahead. This time, despite the Spaniard’s efforts, he was unable to hunt down the Belgian. After trying and taking into account that he could win the GP without having to risk more, Farrés secured second position which gave him his fourth consecutive victory and the fifth so far this season.
Next week Farrés will defend the leadership in Belgium
In this way, he also managed to increase the difference against Sacha Coenen to 33 points in the championship, so he begins to have a few points of margin before entering the final stretch of the championship, where the title will end up being decided. Of course, before we can think about the titles, the MXGP World Championship is already on its way to Lomel, in Belgium, to compete in the Flanders GP next weekend.
The MXGP calendar is very tight, so much so that in eight weeks, in addition to the MXGP of Flanders, those of Sweden, the Netherlands, Turkey, China and Australia will be held, which will close the calendar on September 20.

In the second race, my start was decent, although not the best, and I got into second quite quickly. From there, I tried to match Liam Everts’ pace, but he was driving really well, so I settled for second and secured the overall victory. I’m happy with the weekend and I’m already looking forward to the next round.”
