Toni Bou has an impeccable weekend
The Repsol Honda HRC experienced a historic day this Sunday in Zelhem (Netherlands), the scene of the penultimate round of the 2026 TrialGP World Championship. Toni Bou arrived at the second day of competition with clear options to mathematically decide the championship after having won both races on Saturday and extending his advantage at the top of the general classification to 111 points.
And as expected the pilot of the Montesa Cota 4RT He was once again intractable from the start, completing a practically perfect first race. An impeccable performance that allowed him to achieve a new victory and, with it, mathematically become world champion of TrialGP 2026 and reach 40 world titles. With the title in his pocket, Toni Bou faced the last race of the weekend with the aim of closing the Dutch event with a new victory.
However, although he started with a great pace and without penalties, an error in zone 3 made him score five points that ended up being decisive in the fight for victory. Despite remaining competitive during the rest of the course, Bou could not recover the difference against Jaime Busto, who finally took the victory in Race 2.
40 world titles and what’s left to come
The Repsol Honda HRC thus closes a historic weekend in the Netherlands. Above any result, Zelhem will be marked by the conquest of Toni Bou’s 40th world titlethe twentieth in the outdoor modality, with which he continues to expand an unprecedented record in the history of motorcycling. Gabriel Marcelli, for his part, closes the weekend with 317 points and drops to third position in the championship, just seven points behind Jaime Busto, second. The TrialGP World Championship will reach its last event of the season between September 18 and 20 in Pobladura de las Regueras, where Marcelli will seek to regain second position and the Repsol Honda HRC will put the finishing touch to a historic season.
After achieving a new world title, Bou declared: “I am very happy. Winning the 40th world title is something incredible and it is still difficult to assimilate. This season has been incredible, we have been very consistent and we have made good decisions in important moments.
