Montesa and MNACTEC inaugurate the “VIVA Montesa” exhibition

Montesa and the Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia (MNACTEC) celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Spanish firm in a very special way. He Next September 29 at 7:00 p.m. the official opening of the exhibition will take place “Long live Montesa”. An exhibition dedicated to the history of one of the most emblematic brands of the Spanish motorcycle industry. This exhibition will coincide with the reopening of the museum after the remodeling works carried out in its facilities and will be open to the public.

The MNACTEC: a reference for more than four decades

Since its inauguration in 1984, MNACTEC is the reference institution in Catalonia in the preservation, interpretation and dissemination of scientific, technical and industrial heritage. The museum promotes reflection on the relationship between industry, technology, society and the environment, and encourages critical thinking about the challenges of contemporary economic and social development.

The MNACTEC headquarters is located in Terrassain one of the most emblematic factory buildings of Catalan modernism: the Vapor Aymerich, Amat i Jover. It is an old textile factory designed by architect Lluís Muncunill, built between 1907 and 1908 and declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN) in 2019.

The context of the “VIVA Montesa” exhibition

On the occasion of Montesa’s 80th anniversary, the family of businessman Pere Permanyer has put together an exhibition of 80 emblematic motorcycles of the brand. The initiative, promoted under the MontesaViva brand to keep Montesa’s legacy alive, is a tribute to a brand that has left an indelible mark on industrial design, engineering and motorcycling.

The exhibition pays tribute to the figure of its founder, Pere Permanyer i Puigjaner, businessman, industrialist, inventor and visionary, who dedicated his life to promoting innovation and contributing to the modernization of the society of his time. Eight decades of history, innovation and passion

The “VIVA Montesa” exhibition brings together some of the most representative models in the brand’s history, including the A-45, the Brío, the Impala, the Cappra and the Cotafrom the Permanyer Collection. Each of these motorcycles reflects a fundamental stage in the evolution of Montesa and its contribution to the development of mobility, industry and motor sport.

The exhibition also pays tribute to the figure of Pere Permanyer Puigjaner, founder and driving force of the company, whose business vision and innovative spirit were decisive in turning Montesa into an international reference.

As a complement to the historical tour, the MNACTEC will host a specific space dedicated to competition motocross motorcycles, with an exceptional selection of original models that review the brand’s great sporting successes between the sixties and eighties.

Organized in three large chronological stages, the exhibition explains the origins of Montesa, its industrial and sporting expansion, and the subsequent collaboration with Honda, which consolidated the brand’s specialization in trials and laid the foundations for the extraordinary track record that it continues to build today.
