For those of us who consider ourselves true petrolheads, we are especially excited about this GSX-8R Legend Edition which Suzuki recently presented during the “Salone Auto Torino”, held in the Italian city last weekend. This was the place chosen by the brand to show this very limited special edition presented on its innovative sporty frame.
According to the Italian media Moto.it, one of the honorees who, together with Livio Suppo, were in charge of presenting this GSX-8R Legend Edition attended the presentation. We are talking about the Italian rider Loris Capirossiwhich joins Franco Uncini, Marco Lucchinelli and Kevin Schwantz, as the protagonist of the initiative carried out by the Japanese firm.
Suzuki GSX-8R Legend Edition: Only 20 copies in total
This is not the first time that Suzuki has launched a limited edition of this type. At the end of 2020, it surprised us with the Suzuki GSX-R1000R Legend Edition 2021, a special edition of seven decorations with which the Hamamatsu firm paid tribute to different riders and the titles they had achieved at the controls of a bike from the brand itself.
So Barry Sheene (twice), Marco Lucchinelli, Franco Uncini, Kevin Schwantz, Kenny Roberts Jr. and Joan Mir were the protagonists of this initiative. More specifically, the liveries that their respective bikes wore in the years they managed to become world champions in the Motorcycle World Championship. Some of them are once again the sporting reference to give life to this limited series GSX-8R Legend Edition.
On this occasion, Suzuki has decided to include the emblematic Loris Capirossi who, together with the aforementioned Franco Uncini, Marco Lucchinelli and Kevin Schwantz, are a living legend in the sporting history of the brand. That is why these 20 copies (5 units per livery) of the limited edition GSX-8R Legend Edition, use the official colours that each and every one of them wore in competition at one time.
Intended exclusively for the Italian market, the Suzuki GSX-8R Legend Edition does not vary technically with respect to the standard version. It continues to use the parallel twin-cylinder engine with a 270-degree crankshaft design and 776 cc capable of offering us a power of 83 hp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 78 Nm at 6,800 rpmThe cycle part is also dominated by a steel chassis and a lightweight aluminium swingarm.
This is completed with an inverted KYB front fork and a monoshock for the rear axle, along with two 310 mm floating brake discs at the front and another 240 mm brake disc anchored to the rear wheel. In addition, it uses a good technological compendium that includes three driving modes (Active, Basic and Comfort), STCS, SIRS or SDMS, among others.
The most notable feature of this Suzuki GSX-8R Legend Edition is the special livery that also includes the matching single-seater tail. All this for an official price of 11,500 eurosalthough considering that there are only 20 copies available and that you have to reserve in advance, it is more than likely that very soon there will not be a single one left for sale.
