Following the arrival of the new BMW F900GS, German motorcycle equipment specialist SW-Motech has been developing a complete range of accessories to improve the ultimate performance of the legendary German trail bike. We are talking about key elements such as side engine guards, engine protectors and anti-fall axle stops.
The F900GS It is also equipped with the new Adventure handguards, with an optional polycarbonate shell extension and a replaceable outer anti-drop bumper. A more stylish option is the Sport handguard system, with a smaller shell.
SW-Motech’s range of accessories for the F900GS in detail
The new bike from the Bavarian firm is completely different thanks to its larger displacement, more power and exceptional off-road capabilities. In our in-depth test of the model we already told you that it is a bike designed for very specific use in the countryside, with very light visual lines and a country look, but at the same time with a large and powerful engine, a premium experience and all kinds of electronic aids.
In the mechanical section it has a two-cylinder in-line engine 895 cc with 105 hp of power and 93 Nm of maximum torque at 6,750 rpm displaying a power curve that gives it very fast acceleration on the road and helps maintain excellent traction in the countryside. It has an approved average consumption of 4.4 liters per 100 km and is of course approved for the Euro 5 standard.
With all these things in mind and with the main focus on the F900GS engine, SW-Motech offers us its robust aluminium engine guard – available in black or silver – for the underside. The centre stand makes it easy to maintain tyres and chain, and the extended kickstand provides additional safety when stopping on soft ground.
If travelling is our thing, then we can count on the multiple packages for long trips or shorter routes that SW-Motech offers us. The most notable is the Street-Rack from the rear that allows us to install different top cases. The PRO side supports offer the flexibility of four different case options, and the functionality Quick-Lock to disassemble the entire support in seconds whenever we want.
There is also a choice between the traditional Trax ADV aluminium top-loading cases, the new Dusc ABS hard cases, the waterproof SysBag WP soft bags or the stylish Aero ABS cases. Each can be purchased as a complete system with side carriers and cases.
In the tank area, F900GS owners have a total of 10 tank bag optionsfrom models that are installed via straps to those that use the convenient PRO tank ring system with magnetic guidance. New waterproof bag models are also available. The PRO City WP tank bag fits perfectly onto the GS’s sloping tank and has a nine-litre capacity with a Molle lid that allows it to be expanded to accommodate phone holders or additional bags.
On long tours, a comfortable and relaxed riding position is just as important as a good luggage solution. Being able to adjust the small details makes all the difference, which is why SW-Motech offers the EVO footrests with removable inserts that absorb vibrations, move the footpegs up, down, forwards, backwards and have a 36 different positions to support your feet. Fully adjustable paddle shifters, mirror extensions and variable paddle shifters provide a safer and more comfortable ride.
