Aleix Espargaró suffers a serious accident in the Sepang tests

Last Tuesday, Aleix Espargaró uploaded a post with photos from Malaysia to his networks. The Spaniard has been an HRC development driver for two seasons alongside Takaaki Nakagami, and was back in Sepang to continue working on the evolution of the motorcycles. But shortly after this post the situation became complicated for the Catalan.

Today, two days later, he published a post again on social networks, but confirming that on Tuesday he suffered a serious accident during the tests. There is no information about how the fall occurred, but he has suffered injuries that took him directly to the hospital.

HRC trusted Aleix after his retirement as a permanent driver

According to Aleix himself, in the fall, in addition to bruises, he suffered a fracture of four vertebrae, he has not specified which ones, and he was close to the possibility that these could affect the spinal cord. Fortunately, that was not the case and after spending these days admitted to the Aurelius Hospital near the track, he will now return to Spain.

After several days in hospital, Aleix has the approval to return to Spain

It was his wife Laura who went there to accompany Aleix back home. Without further details at the moment, Espargaró confirmed that they will have to evaluate, upon arrival at the Dexeus Clinic in Barcelona, whether a surgical intervention will have to be carried out or it will not be necessary.

The accident is a new mishap for Aleix, who already had an injury last year although on the bicycle. What the Catalan has made clear in his post is that he will return to action. From SoyMotero.net we send you our best wishes for a quick recovery.
