Ana Carrasco will not defend the WorldWCR number 1. Make the jump to the World Supersport Championship!

The duel that Ana Carrasco and María Herrera starred in at the WorldWCR 2024, in addition to providing great races in which we also saw Sara Sánchez and Beatriz Neila at a high level, served to crown one of them as the first Women’s World Champion FIM Speed history. Among the four, it was Ana Carrasco who ended up taking number one, although we already know that she will not defend it in 2024.

Carrasco, who already participated in the Moto3 World Championship for several seasons, as well as in the SSP300 World Championship, which he ended up winning, and who tried a Moto2 and a Supersport, returns to the latter category as a Honda France rider. The Spanish rider, double world champion, faces a different experience, since her experience with motorcycles of this displacement, weight and power is more limited.

Ana Carrasco faces a new challenge in her sports career

Even so, Carrasco, who like Herrera, Sánchez and Neila has demonstrated a level of driving that allows him to compete with the rest of the drivers with whom they have competed and achieve great results, will have a lot of work ahead of him to adapt to this new category in which will ride a Honda CBR600RR.

Compared to the Yamaha R7 that he has ridden this season, the change will be substantial, as he will go from a motorcycle that has around 70 hp as standard and a weight of 188 kg also as standard, to a machine with 50 hp more and practically the same weight. Furthermore, by regulation, it can be modified and achieve even more performance and lighten it up to a minimum of 161 kg.

In any case, Carrasco is, as could not be otherwise, very excited about this new step in her sporting career: “I am very happy to join Honda in this new project. Honda is the largest factory in the world and it is an honor for me to race in these colors. I want to learn as quickly as possible and strive for good results. I’m looking forward to working with the team and riding the bike for the first time. I want to thank HRC, Honda Europe and Honda France for trusting me and giving me this opportunity. “I will do my best to achieve our goals this season.”

Ana was crowned again in Jerez

The Spanish will share a team with the Frenchman Corentin Perolari, who finally seems to have found stability in terms of equipment to be able to compete permanently in the championship, something that until now he has not been able to do in recent seasons. Perolari, speaking to the WSBK, also expressed his enthusiasm for the new project:

“I am delighted to be in the World Supersport Championship, especially representing Honda, which I am very fond of. The whole team knows that I will give my best in every race. The initial tests will allow us to start working with the team. Afterwards, the goal is to perform as we did during the Magny-Cours wildcard last September, but over a full season. To be consistently in the top ten would be fantastic.”
