The recent Bike Shed Moto Show in London has served, among other things, for companies of the level of Powerbrick Performance Surprise attendees with one of your special projects. In this case, a high-flying preparation around “customizable” BMW K1100RS. A model, particularly, in which this Dutch trainer has extensive experience after having shaped other examples of a similar style.
BMW K1100RS by Powerbrick Performance in detail
This is not the first time we have talked to you about some of the special work of this company. Previously, we did the same with this Harley-Davidson Pan America modified using CNCPT Moto accessories. As we already explained at the time, the latter is in turn a subsidiary brand of Powerbrick Performance, created specifically to create a range of components for preparations by the Milwaukee firm.
As for the BMW K1100RS that stars in these lines, we are talking about one of the latest projects of Timothy Somersfounder of the company, and his team. A concept that mixes naked and café racer features protected by a minimalist design where sportiness prevails. In addition, Powerbrick uses this type of preparation as a rolling showcase, showing some of the accessories it has in its extensive catalog.
We must remember that the main business of this Dutch company is, precisely, the sale of motorcycle components, as Somers explains to his MCN colleagues during an interesting interview: “We’ve been coming here for five years and we bring a couple of bikes that we use for product development, since our main business is parts. We don’t depend on the sale of the bikes; the business is really based on the sale of the parts.”
Concludes: “From a business point of view, the parts are much more scalable because you put in the work once and then you can continue to sell them again and again. We even develop our own silencers together with Bos Exhausts. Many of these big brands are based in the Netherlands, so it makes a lot of sense for us to partner with them.”
In the case of this BMW K1100RS, the people at Powerbrick Performance have resorted to a select selection of parts with which to give the final shape exhibited at the London exhibition: adjustable handlebars, sports footpegs or a carbon wheel kit are among the main accessories that make up its silhouette. But the extensive and quality list also includes:
- DNA capsule air filters
- Powerbrick’s own rubber intake ducts
- Brembo brakes
- Adjustable Öhlins suspensions
- Adjustable TFX rear shock
- Semicircular instrument panel
- Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa II Tires
Without a doubt, the star element of the new K1100RS from Powerbrick Performance is the complete subframe that it mounts. In fact Somers comments on this: “We specialize in CNC machining. We have the complete subframe, which is probably our most important part for BMWs. Because it allows you to reposition the shock absorber, extend the swingarm and integrate all the electronics.”
Manufactured from a piece of aeronautical aluminum, its approximate price is about 4,495 euros. Also worth mentioning are the Rotobox Bullet carbon rims, or the custom-made exhaust hand-welded using TIG welding from more than 102 pieces. Surprisingly it “only” costs about 1,400 euros. You can find all of this on its official website along with a huge portfolio of accessories for BMW and Harley-Davidson preparations.
