Book question … Suzuki has two fronts currently open in India and USA

The brakes are a vital element on each motorcycle. If a failure in an electrical system, for example, can be thrown away, a brake failure can put us in trouble. That is why it is a security element that is monitored and that we always have to be available when we are going to use it.

And although we have them totally integrated in our day to day, the truth is that it is a mechanical system like any other and for that same reason you can fail. In fact it fails more than we imagine and to show the two processes in parallel that Suzuki is currently living.

On the one hand, we have a revision call in India of about 5,000 units of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, which is actually a range that includes both the most sporty version (SF) and a Naked. In both cases problems have been detected in the rear train brake that is summarized inappropriate contact between the brake pads and the discs by which there may be lower performance and unequal wear.

To solve it, Suzuki India has called for review to all models and customers will only have to wait for the brand to contact them to program an appointment in the technical service and change the affected pieces without cost.

A small zinc cylinder seems to be behind the problem according to the plaintiffs

The other problem with brakes comes from the United States

The second front that Suzuki is open right now with the brakes comes from the United States. There the thing is more serious, because they face a collective demand, something typical in the North American country, which has been presented last August in the Federal Court of California.

The demand, which according to Ride Apart, has been presented by Alex López and Travell Woods, alleges that some of the brand’s motorcycles have the master brake bomb cylinder defective. According to the plaintiffs, the piston is manufactured in zinc and when it comes into contact with the brake fluid it generates hydrogen that eventually, in theory, reduces the braking power capacity or annulled it.

In USA's complaint there is loss of value on motorcycles

The plaintiffs themselves reinforce the idea that Suzuki was aware of the problem for, in fact, in 2013 he issued a revision call for certain models that had to do with these same problems. Even so, they claim that Suzuki did not implement a redesign to solve it.

Therefore, both the main and others who have joined it have seen the value of their motorcycles and have also assumed repair costs. A movie theme, without a doubt for both the brand and for consumers themselves, but, fortunately, there is no news that it affects the Spanish market at all.
