The Yamaha R1M is one of those bikes that changed the concept of superbikes forever. Unfortunately, new environmental legislation has ended up leaving it out of the market, although it is still possible to buy and enjoy it.
In fact, the R1M version is the top of the range that the three-tuning firm offers for its immortal R1 and it is a delight. Its engine is close to 200 HP of power, 197 to be exact, but its weight with the oil tank and full fuel tank is 202 kilos. And that comes with 17 liters of gasoline and 4.9 liters of oil. So you can safely be in the 1:1 power ratio to whatever the gasoline adjusts.
We are, therefore, talking about a power-to-weight ratio of one HP per kilo, something that we do not find in any street car, and that is only reserved for the best motorcycles. That is why facing a 197 HP Yamaha R1M against a 1,034 HP Porsche Taycan Turbo GT or a 1,000 HP Ferrari SF90 is a more even battle than we might think.
The Yamaha R1M costs almost 10 times less than the Porsche and 15 times less than the Ferrari
What is not at all equal is the price of the three vehicles. While the Yamaha R1M is on the market for 30,899 euros, with the Taycan we go up to 248,658 euros and with the Ferrari we are around 500,000 euros. So if we value performance-euro, the one that wins by far is the Yamaha R1-M
Now to what we have come to, the direct confrontation. The truth is that the conditions do not seem the most conducive for the bike with a wet ground and, surely, a rather cold environment that is not good at all to start.
Furthermore, it seems that the electronic management and the pilot himself are not as fine as they should be. Even so, the result is tremendously even. In favor of whom? Hit play and find out for yourself.
