New car registrations in November reached 83,339 unitswhich means a 6.4% growth compared to the same month of 2023. In this way, a continuous quarter of increases is chained and in the cumulative figure for the year there are 911,503 saleswhich represents an increase of 5.1%.
All channels have recorded growth. The greatest increase is recorded in renters, who are stocking up for the end of the year, with an increase of 59.8% and 7,760 units. For their part, individuals registered a growth of 1.6%, with 41,429 sales, and companies improved 4.5%, with 41,429 units.
The problem last month has been in the sales of electrified vehicles, since they only accounted for 10,664 units in November, 12.8% of the total (with a drop of 7.8% compared to the same period of the previous year. In the accumulated There are 100,802 units, 11.06% of the market and also below what was recorded in 2023 at this point, specifically 0.5% less.
It is the conventional hybrids that are driving the market. In fact, the average CO2 emissions of passenger cars sold in November remain at 114.4 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled, 1.5% higher than the average emissions of new passenger cars sold in the same month of 2023. For the year as a whole, an average of 117.4 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled is recorded, remaining the same as a year ago.
From ANFAC, the manufacturers’ association, they are positive with the data for the last quarter “an upward streak has been chained that allows us to be optimistic for a year-end close to around one million units.” It is a figure with a certain psychological component, since it has not been achieved since before the pandemic. It will be necessary to see if the latest developments in the Moves II Plan serve as a boost, especially to improve sales of electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
Dealers warn that the market has remained stagnant, a situation they explain “by the limited impact of the electrified vehicle on total registrations.” They pay special attention to the Valencian Community, with a rebound in the second fortnight and point out that “concessionaires are committed to supporting the Government’s aid plan to guarantee its success.” At Gavam they point to the increase in purchases from rental companies that supply fleet… and are concerned about those from individuals: “they are the ones that provide the most profitability to distributors and registrations indicate stagnant demand.
