As we celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2024, Cardo Systems is looking back at some of its key connectivity innovations. For example, in 2004, Cardo introduced the World’s first Bluetooth headset for motorcycleswhich marked a milestone in the industry and improved the riding experience for motorcyclists and riders around the world.
Cardo Systems: Two decades of innovation
With a mindset of constant innovation, Cardo’s pursuit of open connectivity continued. In 2007, the launch of the Q2 marked the first true long-range intercom between riders with the ability to connect two riders over distances of up to 700 mFor the first time, friends out and about could communicate reliably and effectively over distance.
The pace of development did not stop there. Cardo Systems sought to push the boundaries—and the reach—of Bluetooth technology, launching the first long-range intercoms with a range of 1.6 km with the G4 in 2009. As part of the company’s commitment to leadership, the G4 also offered Internet-based firmware updates, allowing users to easily update their devices at home.
By 2015, the world’s famous dynamic mesh communication (DMC) arrived, encapsulated in Packtalk. The world’s first mesh connectivity technology allowed groups of up to 15 motorcyclists connect quickly and efficiently, with the ability to automatically reconnect when entering and leaving range for the first time. Eliminating common frustrations and time wasters, DMC allowed users to focus on the journey ahead with hours of connected and shared experiences.
Since then, Cardo’s commitment to reliable connectivity and innovative solutions has continued with the introduction of the 2nd generation DMC, software releases to create cross-brand integration with all major Bluetooth intercoms, the establishment of partnerships Open Bluetooth intercom (OBi) and sharing its technology in other outdoor industries.
With its latest release, the Packtalk PRO, Cardo Systems takes connectivity even further with built-in collision detection, sending an alert to an established contact with your last known location. Alon LumbrosoManaging Director of Cardo Systems, comments:
