If we look back in time, only a decade, no matter how much work in aerodynamics, there were no motorcycles that had aerodynamic appendices. Turbulences, penetration, drag and little else were worked. But for a while to this part, aerodynamics has evolved to the sound that marks MotoGP especially, and today many street motorcycles already carry technical solutions in that regard.
The brands are betting on following this line, especially in their sports models, and that is making investigating new aerodynamic solutions. One of them comes from the hand of Cfmoto, which is working on wings that are not fixed, but extend or retract depending on the need.
Active aerodynamics reacts based on speed
The system itself is quite simple in approach, because with a kind of hinges and through actuators with servos they are displayed or collected. More complex is the system that detects when you have to deploy or retract them and that in the patent is not especially clear. It is known that the system detects speed and between 60 and 100 km/h unfolds, but exactly the point in which it does.
Thanks to this system you could have the advantage of gaining aerodynamic load when necessary, and making low speed driving, in addition to preventing the motorcycle from getting hooked in some way when it is practically maneuver.
In any case, what is not known is what motorcycle this mobile aerodynamic system will be started, and if it will be in any of the models that we have already seen even in exhibitions such as the 500SR or the 750SR-R of which we talked to you a few months ago, or it is reserved to use it in the expected V4.
Only time will say, what is certain is that every day the manufacturers will take more steps in those aerodynamic solutions that until recently were reserved preserve for cars.
