classic design and 42 HP that point to success

Nowadays, we all know the relevance that those models manufactured specifically for the well-known A2 license have taken on. That is why Triumph, in collaboration with Bajaj, continues to develop one of the most anticipated in this category, the Bonneville 400which is already rolling on the road in the different test tests to which the brand is subjecting it before its incorporation into its desired “Modern Clasiccs” range.

Bonneville 400: What we know

In the final stages of last summer, after the launch of the striking Thruxton 400, everyone was wondering (including us) which would be the next model chosen by Triumph to join the extensive Modern Classic family of the British firm. Now, just a few months later, the biggest is confirmed: it is very likely that the Bonneville 400 initials will not take long to make an appearance.

A statement that was born after seeing the images of a test mule of the model published by the German media Motorrad Online. In them we can clearly see the silhouette of what, in the eyes of a good expert, would be a Bonneville 400. Its black silhouette and clear retro style give it away.

But also a series of details that, unlike the Speed 400, the base model from which it starts, give it the characteristic design and personality that give life to the legendary “Bonnie.”.

To begin with, we have the pair of side shock absorbers, an almost indispensable element when we seek to implement a vintage image to a frame of this type. Also the radial type rims, as well as the symmetrical shape of their silencers emerging from the bottom of the motorcycle. Another typical detail is the conventional fork and the well-known protectors (or bellows) responsible for covering the bars.

Finally, we have the design chosen to shape its fenders which, together with the purely classic taillight and the typical one-piece seat, give the final shape to a silhouette as unmistakable as the one that this Bonneville 400 will finally wear. In any case, the model also leaves room for the latest technology, thanks to having, among others, a state-of-the-art ABS system, LED lighting or a TFT instrument panel.

The future Bonneville 400 begins its first road tests

Finally, we must not forget its evolved 398 cc Series TR engine, the same one that has seen its displacement reduced in India as a result of the new imposition of the new GST 2.0 tax regulation. That said, no modification is expected in Europe, so it is almost certain that it can offer up to 42 HP at 9,000 rpm and 37.5 Nm of maximum torquecurrent figures declared by its range sister, the 2026 Thruxton 400.

Although there is no confirmation of its official launch from the brand, the new Bonneville 400 could be presented to the public before the end of this year. Regarding the price, everything suggests that it will be similar to that offered in the rest of the models in the Modern Classic range. Or what is the same, with an official rate of around 6,000 euros.
