KTM has been giving us the runaround for over two years with the presentation of its new 1390 Super Duke GTto the point that initially there was no consideration of the possibility that it would be powered by the mechanics recently released by the 1390 Super Duke R, for now the only bike from the Austrian firm that uses this configuration. However, this seems to be going to change very soon, according to the latest information released on the development of the model.
In any case, and to summarise what we know so far, it is worth remembering that it was in April 2022 that we first heard about KTM’s plans for a new Super Duke GT. At that time, the possibility of maintaining the “1090” credentials was being considered, something that has finally been definitively ruled out after the launch of its new engine.
KTM 1390 Super Duke GT 2025: More performance and technological equipment
It was last summer of 2023, specifically in the month of August, when the future 1390 Super Duke GT was seen for the first time. At that time, it was definitively confirmed that it would debut a new image and mechanics, giving a further twist to the sport-touring concept, focusing on the fundamental aspects of the model related to comfort and ergonomics.
All of this can be confirmed today after learning the new information published by our colleagues at Motorrad Online, where all the relevant aspects that will surround the next generation of the Super Duke GT are exposed. In addition, they offer us significant data related to the performance of the model, as well as the technological arsenal that could end up being mounted in its final version.
On the first point, KTM homologates a maximum speed of 250 km/hthanks to the 190 HP of power delivered by the new V2 at 75º of 1,350 cc. The final pair is set at the 145 Nmfigures identical to those declared by the Super Duke R. In addition, the homologation documents reveal a weight reduction of 3 kilograms compared to the previous model, 233 kilos in running order, being able to carry 13 kilos more and raising the maximum permitted weight to 472 kg.
In terms of its final dimensions, the 2025 1390 Super Duke GT has a maximum length of 2,139 mm, 8 less than the 1,290, with a total width of 929 mm and a variable height between 1,299 mm and 1,399 mm. This suggests a height-adjustable windshield, something its predecessor lacked. Beyond the cold figures, the 2025 1390 Super Duke GT shows a totally new image, in line with that already seen on the recently released KTM 1390 Super Duke R. This translates into a new LED front optic and it is not yet clear whether it will have cornering lighting or not.
In the latest images captured on a test mule of the model we have not been able to detect a front radar system associated with the Adaptive Cruise Control, but it is expected that it will eventually be equipped with it. Even more so when KTM and Bosch have announced a new radar system with up to 6 new functions in terms of safety.
Another of the extras expected in this new generation of the model is the arrival of a semi-active suspension system as standard. At this point and knowing KTM’s way of operating, it is possible that the 1390 Super Duke GT could be offered in two different equipment versions, or failing that with specific packages that included elements such as those already mentioned.
What is certain is that the Austrian sport-touring bike will be fitted with 120/70ZR17 tyres at the front and 190/55ZR17 at the rear and will use Brembo four-piston radial calipers on the front end. Finally, the most important thing… How much will it cost us to get our hands on the 1390 Super Duke GT? Well, taking into account the price of the 1390 Super Duke R Evo, 24,699 euros, it will be very difficult for our protagonist today to go under 25,000 euros in any of its possible versions.
