Craving for car toys? They sell an incredible collection of 4,500 Hot Wheels

If Christmas has left you with a strange feeling of nostalgia for having a good time with toy cars, a huge collection of 4,500 Hot Wheels cars that were collected over a period of 30 years is going up for sale. The vast majority of the cars are still in their original packaging and the entire lot is offered for sale in the state of New York (USA).

In the collection you will find an amazing variety of Hot Wheels models, including some rare examples from popular film franchises such as back to the future, Barbie, Fast and Furious, Ninja Turtles, Jurassic World or Star Wars.

Hot Wheels was founded in 1968 by Mattel co-founder Elliot Handler after watching his son playing with Matchbox cars and realizing there was room in the market for a competitor focused on concept models and custom vehicles.

It was not just anyone since Ellion Handler and his wife Ruth had developed some of the best-known toys in history such as Barbie, Chatty Cathy (a talking doll). The first line of Hot Wheels models were highly successful, possibly because they were based on custom cars rather than regular production cars reproduced at 1:64 scale.

This greatly appealed to American children, who had spent years reading their parents’ car magazines and seeing the custom cars of the era. Over the decades, Hot Wheels cars would become one of the best-selling toys in the world. The brand would be associated with films, including film franchises of Spiderman and batmanand would launch series of special edition models based on cars from video games and cartoons.

The collection of 4,500 Hot Wheels cars was assembled over a 30-year period by an avid collector from upstate New York. Includes many of the most memorable special edition Hot Wheels cars from the past three decades, including Treasure Hunts, Car Culture Team Transports, Monster Trucks, Early Times, Classics, Neon Speeders and Color Shifters.

The collection also includes a number of brand collaborations, such as Batman, Spider-Man, The Beatles, Castrol, Disney, Forza Horizon 5, Gran Turismo, Mario Kart, Motul, Kendall Motor Oil, Shell, Warner Bros… At the time of writing this article the bidding is for $6,000, which is not a very high price.
