Do you like the Mazda MX-5? With a CBR engine you will like it much more…

The Mazda MX-5, also known as Miata, is one of those cars that remains in the catalog for decades due to its charisma. Generation after generation they have evolved, and today they are already a classic, as they can be considered an entry-level sports car both in terms of price and performance.

The Mazda MX-5 is small and light, and although the current version has gone crazy like all car prices and now exceeds 32,000 euros, previous versions were more accessible. That is why it became a popular car with which there are even races around the world today.

Even so, the performance of the Mazda MX-5 is not extraordinary, so to go one step further you have to look for alternatives. And one of those alternatives that someone has looked for, of course, in the United States has been to mount a motorcycle engine. We are talking about the engine of a Honda CBR1000RR specifically.

Thanks to that, it has gained around 70 HP compared to the original version that that specific model had, because the new engine offers 160 HP, since we are dealing with a version from the end of the first decade of the century.

The power of the Mazda MX-5 goes up, its weight goes down and it sounds amazing… you can’t ask for more!

We find ourselves, therefore, with a Japanese hybrid that is quite striking due to the mixture and also due to the peculiar sound that the inline four engine emits when it increases its revolutions, up to 13,000 revolutions per minute. In fact, while you’re watching the video there are times when the car doesn’t appear, and you’re also expecting a sports car because of the way the gears are spliced together.

And another of the great works that have been carried out on this modified Mazda MX-5 has also had to do with the gearbox, which has gone from being the original one of the car to a sequential one (we do not know if the gearbox itself of the motorcycle or an external one). What is certain is that it ends up giving the car an even more special touch because you no longer have to drive it like the original MX-5.

As if all this work were not enough, we can also see how the car has been conveniently lightened. So we have more power and less weight to make this little Japanese icon even more fun.
