35 years have passed since the Sakuba brothers founded Gull Craft, and the fruit of the experience accumulated throughout all this time offers us preparations of the caliber of this Ducati M900 Monster. An excellent work where the unmistakable Italian style regains renewed strength thanks to the endless modifications and improvements made by the Japanese specialist; parts made of FRP, handmade CNC accessories and a visual touch “Hailwood style”, result in this masterpiece in the form of a motorcycle.
Ducati M900 Monster by Gull Craft in detail
What can we say at this point about the everlasting Ducati Monster. One of the most iconic frames to come off the Borgo Panigale assembly line. In any case, if you are new to two wheels and want to know the complete story about the development and subsequent evolution of the model, I recommend that you take a look at this elaborate video by the “chief of the corral”.
Returning to the Ducati M900 Monster from Gull Craft, how long has it been since you have seen a neo retro preparation of this level? Look, customizations of all kinds pass through the page, but when you look at the silhouette of this fascinating project, you understand that there are good ones, great ones, and excellent ones. Our protagonist belongs precisely to this last category.
The same one that we have known thanks to the colleagues of Return of the Café Racers and that is clearly inspired by the Ducati NCR, classic competition models. To this end, the M900 Monster has been dressed with a bespoke body kit. Its notable feature is its fuel tank, similar to that of the motorcycle that Mike Hailwood used to win the 1978 Isle of Man TT.
As detailed by Gull Craft, the idea was that, although their M900 Monster had to look spectacular, they would focus on trying to make as few modifications as possible to the chassis. Thus, the single-seat tail is installed directly on the original subframe of the motorcycle. Like the tank, its design is based on the Hailwood NCR.
At the front, the Japanese trainer uses a specific fairing for the model. In addition, it is one of the accessories that the brand sells within its product portfolio for the Italian model. But if there is something that shines with its own light in this M900 Monster, it is undoubtedly the huge amount of accessories made in CNC. These are in turn combined with other notable elements such as Ducati Performance rear footpegs.
The radical touch is provided by the sporty semi-handlebars and an instrumentation composed of a Motogadget Chronoclassic tachometer, anchored to a handcrafted machined aluminum support. To top it off, Gull Craft has incorporated modifications around the 900 cc L-twin engine that equips the Monster.
For example, custom clutch and pinion covers, visible belt protectors and some perforated accessories to improve the visual part, but also the cooling of the mechanical elements. The icing on this cake is provided by the two black painted silencers that emerge laterally from the lower part of the motorcycle. Or rather, the work of art made into a motorcycle…
