Now, since 24M Technologiesa technology company based in Massachusetts, announces a new battery design with which they claim to be able to offer up to 1,600 kilometers of autonomy.
24M Technologies is committed to eliminating unnecessary expenses and components
The idea they are working on at 24M Technologies is to eliminate all those components that are not strictly necessary for its operation. To do this, as described on the brand’s own website: “24M ETOP features electrodes integrated directly into a battery pack, eliminating the need for individual cells and modules. Packs can be flexibly configured and manufactured in different sizes to maximize efficiency and performance.”
Concludes: “This innovative system allows manufacturers to achieve the highest energy density available at the package level and reduce costs.” Current standard lithium-ion battery cells contain a large amount of inactive materials that do not carry a charge within the casing itself, such as support metals and various plastics.
These inactive materials “they reduce module density and energy, in addition to generating unnecessary expenses and waste”they clarify from 24M Technologies. Likewise, the manufacturing process used by 24M Technologies is a modular, simple, economical and space-saving approach to battery manufacturing. In this way, half of the steps in conventional cell manufacturing are eliminated and capital costs are reduced by more than 50%.
While the 24M ETOP battery system is initially designed to be mounted in automobiles, the company concludes by alluding that “collaborates closely with its partners to create the ideal battery solution, from customized product requirements to an optimized production setup.”
This could give rise to a specific battery system for motorcycles, with which to offer a much greater range of autonomy than the current one. The question is obvious: How long will we have to wait?…
