The year Carl Fogarty won the Senior TT on the Isle of Man was the same year Alex Brundle came into the world. The four-time WSBK champion was making his future when Alex’s father Martin was combining his F1 career with changing his then newborn son’s diapers.
But time is relentless, so much so that that character with projection that was Fogarty ended up becoming a legend of motorcycling, and for Alex to grow up, make his first steps as a driver and today he is 36 years old with Carl fully immersed in 61.
So we are bringing together a senior with a veteran in a duel that is also on four wheels. That is what Adrian Flux and Bikesyre Motorcycle Insurance have done, two insurance companies that operate in the United Kingdom and that give us one of those competitions that neither have a prize nor much meaning, but that we love.

“Foggy” was the most successful British driver of the ’90s, and he was fearsome on two wheels, but it’s not like he was lavish with cars. So no matter how much speed he has in his DNA and beyond his age, the truth is that the challenge of facing a driver who has won the 2016 European Le Mans Series in the LMP3 category is an unequal challenge.
It must be recognized that Fogarty tries everything
Of course, Fogarty’s competitive streak does not seem to have gone out and although he does not wear gloves and had never driven a Caterham, which is one of those special and different cars that can deceive simply by looking at its aesthetics or its technical specifications, he comes out willing to do whatever it takes to be fast against the clock. And by doing whatever it takes we mean everything, including skipping chicanes.
Logically, Brundle’s hands end up making that first competitive contact between the two go his way, with good old Carl biting the dust. Even so, the main dishes remained ahead, a Ginetta GT and a car to repeat the duel.
We are not going to tell you what happens so that you can enjoy it, but we can tell you that despite his 61 years, despite his lack of experience with these cars and despite the fact that Alex has a lot of experience with cars, good old “Foggy” gives it his all once again.
And the fact that a pilot is always a pilot is much more than a saying.
