HJC F100 Carbon Test: Features and Manufacturing Technologies
The HJC F100 Carbon represents the spearhead and a significant evolution among all the modular helmets offered by HJC. It debuts HJC’s new rotation system, along with an aerodynamic shell that guarantees excellent performance at high speeds. The F100 Carbon is intended to be used every day, whether going to work or at leisure.
The outer shell is built in Carbon Fiber to be lighter and more comfortable, while improving impact resistance. Meets, if not exceeds, the ECE 22.06 approval standard, with tests including energy attenuation, penetration resistance and structural integrity of the chin strap.
HJC takes advantage of its experience in MotoGP to develop a technology that in this case is called Advanced Channeling System (ACS), which allows optimal and effective ventilation in all conditions.
For this purpose, it has two front air inlets, one on the chin and one on the top, very easy to operate with gloves and which have three rear outlets, one central at the top and two at the bottom, for the evacuation of hot air and humidity.
The HJ-45 visor offers 99% UV-A and B protection and is pinlock ready. Its change is very easy without the need for any type of tool. Likewise, it has an interior solar screen that can be easily operated from the left side of the helmet.
To raise the chin guard, just one finger is enough to activate the button located at the bottom of it. Like the ventilation system, it is designed to be used with gloves. The same can be said for the micrometric closure, very easy to operate.
The interior, aided by ventilation, is designed for sweat evacuation and drying. The pads, with 3D contour for greater comfort on the crown and cheeks, are removable and washable. A slot for glasses is also planned, a less frequent detail than we would like.
Finally, it comes equipped as standard with Pinlock, chin guard and breath deflector. It is available in the glossy finish with the exposed carbon fiber that you see in the photos and in a series of multicolor designs, among which the new Marvel Ant-Man stands out in a multitude of sizes, ranging from XS to 2XL.
HJC F100 Carbon test: Uncompromising comfort
They say that how comfortable a helmet is depends on the shape of your skull. In my case, the HJC have always been comfortable for me, but the HJC F100 Carbon fits me like a glove, although it is one size larger than what I usually wear in the brand.
Some helmets require a precise position to be inserted. In this case, when inserting it in its open position, it can be done from the front or from top to bottom in a very easy way. Once opened, the chin guard rotates to the back, remaining as an aerodynamic appendage of it.
During the opening mechanism, the outer screen also opens, but will remain open when the chinstrap is closed. Operating the screen is just as simple with both hands, as it has tabs on the left and right of it.
Once riding, transitioning between the different combinations is very simple, even with gloves, proving to be an ideal option as a daily helmet. To this end, it has space for the headphones of any intercom system on the market.
The aerodynamic noise is at a good level within the modular helmets, of course, in the closed position, which together with the final weight of 1,500 grams (in size L) make it very attractive in the decision to purchase a modular helmet.
