how they fine and where they are

There is no doubt that the road control is greater every day that passes. We find more and more surveillance measures by the DGT, supposedly to ensure our safety. After that high-speed chase that translates into hundreds of fixed or section radars, now comes a new control system. We talk about the continuous line radarsdevices that monitor that drivers pay attention to the road markings that appear on the pavement.

What are continuous line radars?

Continuous line radars are not cinemometers like those that are capable of detecting the speed of several vehicles at the same time and taking a photo if it is above the limit established on the road. In fact, they are simpler devices made up of cameras in different positions to track the position of the vehicle. On the one hand, a camera reads the license plates of the cars that circulate in the merging lane. On the other hand and a few meters ahead, another camera records the vehicles traveling on the road they are about to join.

Then, thanks to software, the system compares the license plates recorded in both cameras. If there is a vehicle that was traveling in the merging lane and is detected on the main road before the end of the continuous linewill have a sanction. The reason why intensive surveillance began is that nothing less than 217 deaths from this type of collision during 2021, after more than 8,000 accidents. That is why it has begun to be monitored more intensively with a solution that simple.

How continuous line radars fine

Not respecting continuous lines It was already a punishable actionthis is not new. What is new is the way of detecting it, since it does not require agents to view it live and direct. The fine of the continuous line radars are 200 euros and does not entail loss of points of the driving license. This is a serious infraction that will reach the driver’s home directly after passing through the Automatic Complaints Handling Center.

Where are the continuous line radars?

At the moment there are not many continuous line radars, it is a surveillance system that is in full deployment. At the moment they have only been made official four locationsall being in the same city, but it is not ruled out that the list will grow soon.
