The Jeep Avenger is a small SUV that until now was sold with a 100% electric version and a mild hybrid version. Now we must add to this equation the Jeep Avenger 4xe The North Facea special edition with which the marketing of the 4xe variant begins, which, unlike other models, is not a plug-in hybrid, but a hybrid powertrain with advanced all-wheel drive capabilities.
This special edition, which will only be manufactured 4,806 units (the height of Mont Blanc), is available from €39,400. A considerable increase from the 33,400 euros that the Avenger 4xe starts from.
What do you gain with that price difference? Well, to begin with, a more elaborate aesthetic, since the Jeep Avenger 4xe The North Face has an exclusive grille, with shiny black rings and topographic centers, an anti-reflective sticker on the hood and 17-inch alloy wheels in black with gold details. Offered in exterior colors Storm, Volcano and Snowwhich combine with some details in Summit Goldalthough it may have a black roof in contrast to the body.
Inside, the dashboard incorporates topographic lines, with a silhouette of Mont Blanc and the inscription One of 4806 under the Avenger logo, emphasizing the connection of the limited edition with the height of the beak. It has personalized mats, designed with 3D mountain ranges, seats with washable material and a Summit Gold contour and a design that imitates The North Face’s padded jackets, with elastic straps on the backrests similar to the firm’s backpacks.
In addition, there is ambient lighting in various colors, navigation, heated windshield like the front seats, or the hands-free electric tailgate. The cherry on top, a welcome kit called The North Face Explore Packwhich includes a tent, duffel bag and water bottle, all adorned with the brand’s logos.
In the mechanical section, it has the 1.2 supercharged three-cylinder engine with 136 HP (100 kW) of power, with 48-volt microhybridization and two electric motors (one per axle) that each generate 29 HP (21 kW). Power is transmitted to all four wheels through a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
It reaches a maximum speed of 194 km/h (10 km/h faster than the Avenger e-Hybrid). Accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. But what it stands out for is better off-road performance, having an additional 10 mm of ground clearance up to 210 mm, approach of 22°, a turning angle of 21° and a departure angle of 35°, wading depth up to 400 mm or the standard M+S tires (All Terrain 3PMSF optional).
In addition, the Avenger 4xe has a 22.7:1 reduction gear on the rear axle, which offers an extraordinary rear wheel torque of 1,900 Nm, ensuring exceptional traction even on steep and challenging surfaces. The vehicle can overcome slopes of up to 40% on gravel and maintain up to 20% traction when the front axle has little or no grip.
Equipped with an intelligent all-wheel drive system, the Avenger 4xe ensures that 4×4 capabilities are available when needed. Depending on the driving mode selected, at low speeds (between -30 and +30 km/h), permanent four-wheel drive is maintained with a 50:50 torque distribution. At medium speeds (30 to 90 km/h), the rear axle drive is activated only when necessary, while at high speeds (above 90 km/h), the rear electric motor is decoupled to optimize consumption of fuel.
The Selec-Terrain system offers several driving modes:
- Car– Provides all-wheel drive only when necessary, balances performance and allows electric driving up to 1 km in EV at less than 30 km/h
- Snow– Improves traction and stability, ensuring safety during winter trips
- Sand & Mud– with specific gear ratios and traction control to maintain grip
- Sport– Unlocks the full potential of the 4xe system, including an E-boost function for rear wheel torque for faster acceleration.
The Avenger 4xe also includes the exclusive Multilink rear suspension system, which significantly improves rear axle articulation for a smoother ride on rough roads and more comfort on challenging terrain.
