Jorge Martín will also miss the Portuguese GP and nothing is known about Valencia and the tests

In the MotoGP era, no champion with the title has had as few opportunities to defend the number one on his fairing as Jorge Martín. The Spanish rider was injured twice in the preseason, once with MotoGP and another while training supermoto, which led him to miss the first three Grands Prix of the year.

Martín reappeared for the Qatar GP, where he wanted to begin to gain sensations on an RS-GP that he did not feel was his, but a serious accident that could have had even worse consequences left him out of action for another seven GPs. In between, a complex controversy that ended up being quelled first and then diluted, when the Spaniard returned to action in Brno and with relatively good feelings.

Feelings that were even greater in Austria despite having a difficult weekend, and that were confirmed in the Hungarian GP, where he achieved a fourth position that tasted like victory. In Montmeló and San Marino things did not go well in terms of results, but it seemed that Martín was getting looser and looser with the bike… until the Japanese GP arrived.

Martín will miss 2 out of every 3 GPs this season

In an accident in the first corner of the Sprint Race, the Madrid native hurt himself again. Again a very hard fall and again a trip to the hospital and an operation to repair the damage, in this case to the right clavicle. After that surgery, the man from Madrid began his recovery process, which included work at RedBull’s specialized center for its athletes.

But despite the efforts, Martín will not be able to be present at the Portuguese event, which will take place in Portimao in less than two weeks. This is what Aprilia has made known that, at least until now, it has not commented on the Spanish rider’s participation in the Valencia GP, nor in the subsequent tests that will be held at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Cheste.

For now it is not known whether Jorge will be able to run in Valencia or not.

The length of time for Jorge Martín’s complicated fracture is currently unknown, but what is certain is that of the 20 GPs held to date, 21 if we count the one in Portugal, Martín will only have gone out on the track in 7, missing the rest due to injury. A complicated balance, one GP participated for every 3 completed, for a driver who has not been able to defend the title at any time.
