Jorge Prado is one of those stars of the motocross sport that emerge in Europe every generation: Bayle, Everts, Cairoli… and that is why he has no limits. At 23 years old he has already achieved four World Champion titles (five if we count the one at 65) and it is unknown how far he will go.
Perhaps that is why he has considered the next step in his sporting career in the mecca of supercross and motocross. And the Spaniard leaves behind his time with the KTM group, with whom he has spent his entire sporting career. And also, he leaves behind his time in the Motocross World Championship to make the leap to AMA Supercross and AMA Pro Motocross.
Already in 2024 he did several AMA SX races and it can be said that Prado shone with his own light, achieving results that no Spaniard had achieved in history and once again making a European the center of attention. Furthermore, despite not being in his discipline, since supercross has nothing to do with the usual needs and techniques of motocross, he knew how to adapt quickly.
Jorge Prado’s changes for 2025 cover the widest range
Now he not only leaves behind KTM, but with his signing for the Kawasaki Monster Energy he also leaves behind the alliance he had with RedBull. And he says goodbye to his number 61, which he changes to 70, so we can say that the change is complete. Prado will start again, although the truth is that the know-how is not lost, and the Spaniard has been working for weeks to be at the best level.
There is no doubt that it is a risky bet for Jorge, who instead of staying “comfortably” with the MXGP and continuing to add titles in what should be a prolific and long career, has decided to cross the pond, fulfill dreams and set new goals. . Of course, if he became champion he would not be the first European to achieve it, since Jean-Michel Bayle achieved it in 1992 before moving on to speed.
Even so, and although deep down Jorge Prado goes to the United States with the aim of also achieving number one there sooner or later, something that has never been easy, nor the other way around, as we saw a few years ago with Villopoto. , expectations should focus in this first year on learning and not making mistakes that end in injuries. Although I’m sure Jorge is very clear about what he expects from 2025…
