KTM completely renews its Freeride E for next 2025

Ten years after KTM first introduced the electric Freeride E concept to the market, the new, completely refreshed 2025 variant of the model represents the brand’s next step in its approach to freedom, practicality and the vast potential of Offroad electric mobility. To do this, they have had the experience of Hard Enduro rider Manuel Lettenbichler, in charge of testing the motorcycle in demanding Offroad environments, confirming its performance at the highest level of this sport.

The 2025 KTM Freeride E addresses not only some of the environmental issues of Offroad (low emissions and almost non-existent noise, meaning it can be ridden almost anywhere), but also the benefits of low maintenance. Intended for those riders looking for capabilities similar to those of trials without the limitations of a traditional trial motorcycle, such as the lack of a seat, short gear ratios and excess noise.

Its configuration also stands out with both brake controls mounted on the handlebars, which will allow experienced users to work more on their technique and positioning, while being the easiest possible introduction to the pleasure of riding for newcomers.

KTM Freeride E 2025 in detail

KTM R&D has been busy bringing the most exciting interpretation of electric propulsion technology to the KTM Freeride E platform. With 11 kW of nominal power, 19.2 kW maximum powermore than 37 Nm of torque and a maximum speed of 95km/hthe motor is a much quieter, cooler and safer unit. Waterproof and dustproof and fully integrated into the overall character and feel of the motorcycle.

Three riding modes (ECO, NORMAL and SPORT) and three energy recovery settings (OFF, MID and HIGH) can be synchronized to ensure flexibility with the range and power pack of the KTM Freeride E 2025. Traction can also be set at a certain level to limit or increase wheel slip. The “tip sensor”, which cuts off the power in the event of a fall, provides more safety.

KTM has prioritized agile and light behavior and has developed a new chassis. The geometry has been modified and the wheelbase has been lengthened to increase stability and comfort. The chassis part can remain light and narrow, articulating the chrome-molybdenum steel chassis on the supporting architecture of the motor and battery.

You will have a total curb weight of less than 112kgand the aluminum and fiberglass-reinforced nylon subframe helps in this regard. The seat height of the KTM Freeride E 2025 is 910mm.

The MX50 lithium-ion battery weighs 29 kg and has been tested under the most severe conditions. It has been designed to be interchangeable, allowing the use of a second pack while the charging process is carried out or to increase running time. Its capacity is 5.5 kWhan improvement of 1.5 kWh compared to the previous KTM Freeride E and a 20% more time or distance of use.

The battery life can withstand more than 1000 charge cycles before dropping to 80% effectiveness. The time of a typical Enduro ride is estimated between 2 and 3 hours. The new KTM Freeride E comes with a 660W charger and will complete a full charge in 8 hours from a regular household socket. The rate of 20-80% can be achieved in 4-5 hours.

At the cycle part level, the WP Suspension components latest generation guarantee robustness and reliability. The front end is responsive, but also firm when needed, thanks to the lightweight 43mm WP XACT fork and split design, with the air capsule on the left unit and the oil damping system on the right. Adjustment is easily accomplished with the single air pressure valve, supplied air pump for preload, and compression and rebound adjusting knobs.

The new WP Xplor PDS system design provides 250mm of rear travel. Oil flow has been optimized for a more consistent damping feel from the 374mm shock. New bearing seals allow for longer maintenance intervals. The WP Xplor PDS shock comes with adjusters for on-the-fly changes without the need for tools.
