KTM Spain recently announced that Marc Coma, the five-time winner of the Dakar Rally, will step down from his position as General Director within the brand, ending a brilliant chapter in both the competition and the company’s history. Marc Coma has been an integral figure within KTM’s success since 2003, playing a key role in consolidating the brand’s dominance in the world of rallying.
After retiring from professional racing in 2018, Marc moved on to play a role within the company’s management, leveraging his passion and experience to take KTM Spain to new heights. As CEO, he contributed significantly to the success and growth of Pierer Mobility’s entire product portfolio.
Marc Coma, a reference inside and outside the world of competition
Marc Coma has stated: “KTM has always represented more than a brand to me: it has been a family. Together, we have achieved things that many thought impossible. My time with KTM, whether racing through the desert or working alongside the incredible teams in the office, with dealers and customers, will always hold a special place in my heart. But now is the right time to explore new challenges and opportunities.”
For its part, Florian Kechtmember of the Executive Board of KTM AG, has expressed his admiration for the legacy Marc leaves behind: “Marc Coma is a true champion, both inside and outside of competition. His influence has left an indelible mark on KTM, in the world of rallying and in the world of competition in general. His contributions to the company have been immeasurable. Although we are saddened by his departure, we are confident that Marc will continue to excel in his next chapter, and we wish him all the best in the future.”
It will be Fabian Simmer, current General Director of GASGAS Spain, who will assume the position of new General Director of KTM Spain, supervising all the company’s brands. With a strong background in the automotive industry, Simmer worked for 15 years at the Volkswagen Group before joining KTM in 2020. Since then, he has overseen the trajectory of GASGAS and played a key role in building a new factory in Terrassa, where motorcycles are developed and produced for KTM, GASGAS and Husqvarna.
