KYMCO is ready to take a decisive step in the evolution of the modern scooter. With the motto “This is not just evolution, but revolution”, the Taiwanese firm has officially confirmed the presentation of a new hybrid scooter during the EICMA 2025. A declaration of intent that places the brand in full technological offensive, just at a time when the hybrid segment is beginning to awaken real interest in the market.
The first visual preview released by KYMCO shows a dynamic and refined design, clearly inspired by the aesthetics of its most recent European range. The LED optics with vertical daytime running lights are reminiscent of the models Agility 350 and People S 200which suggests that the new scooter will be urban, with a high wheel and designed to move easily in the city without giving up stability or comfort.

But the key detail is the word “IBRID” that appears in the teaser, making it clear that it is not a simple redesign, but rather a commitment to hybridization as a real mobility solution. KYMCO has not yet revealed the technical details, but there are 2 possibilities on the table. One is that the new model incorporates an evolution of the ISG system (Integrated Starter Generator), a device that assists the thermal engine in accelerations and starts, improving response and reducing consumption.
The other, which could be like the PE3 of SYMwould point towards a parallel or even plug-in hybrid system, which would allow driving in 100% electric mode at low speed or on short journeys.
As we mentioned at the beginning, the announcement of KYMCO arrives just when SYM has confirmed that it will also present its hybrid scooter PE3 in it EICMA 2025. This model, which was already previewed in Taiwan, combines a combustion engine with an electric drive, offering superior performance without losing the practicality of a traditional scooter. Of course, the combustion engine, in the case of the PE3it only works as an electrical generator.
One thing is clear, this coincidence is not coincidental. Both Taiwanese houses compete directly for leadership in the European urban segment, and their duel in Milan promises to be one of the big headlines of the show.
