Primavera Batik, a very special Vespa born from the meeting of cultures

Vespa has just officially presented its new Spring Batika special edition born from the meeting of distant cultures united by a diverse and rare elegance. The shapes of the Italian icon are combined with the themes and patterns of Batik, the traditional Indonesian fabric, obtained through exclusive and precious production processes, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

Spring Batik: Tribute to a Centenary Art

This particular fabric, which is printed or decorated by hand, always uses beeswax. It originates from the island of Java and was initially used to adorn the clothing of the aristocratic classes, before spreading across the Indonesian archipelago. Today, batik remains a central element of Indonesian culture and is used on a daily basis, not just at formal events.

Over the centuries, batik has become the embodiment of a symbolic philosophy as well as a true means of expression, thanks to the traditional designs used, which have a different meaning depending on the shape or elements they represent.

Thus, the varieties of batik range from Parang Rusak, reserved for royalty and nobility, to Sawat, a symbol of power, Semen, which evokes the symbols of cosmic energy, and Udan Liris, an emblem of fertility.

Batik arrived in Europe in the 19th century, becoming a bridge between Eastern and Western culture; its exotically elegant patterns influenced key styles such as Art Nouveau and, today, the world of haute couture. Vespa Primavera Batik embraces the universal values of this philosophy to create a special edition that is an ode to life and joy, to travel and discovery.

Primavera Batik, the Vespa born from the encounter of cultures

Featuring the Batik Green colour, its decoration unites no less than seven different mystical motifs, originating from the islands of Java, Sumatra and Bali. Among the themes to which the seven different Batik patterns that decorate the Vespa refer are prosperity and the origins of life, strength and longevity, respect for origins, charm and charisma, leadership and wisdom.

These values are naturally associated with Vespa, its history and its deep and authentic multiculturalism. The Batik decorations that adorn the Vespa Primavera are applied using the Water Transfer Technology technique, starting with the “cravattino”, the characteristic and distinctive frieze on the front, then embellishing the glove compartment opening on the rear shield and running along the footboard and sides of the Vespa.

The light brown saddle with green-toned stitching adds a natural touch, recalling the colours of sunny beaches. The matching top box, customisable with Batik stickers (available separately), extends the functionality of the Vespa Primavera Batik, adding cargo space and completing the aesthetics of one of the most cheerful versions of the Vespa in its long history.

The new Vespa Primavera Batik is offered in 50, 125 and 150 cc versionsFor more information and details about any of them, you can consult the official Vespa website or any of the brand’s authorized distributors in our country.
