Rolls-Royce has unveiled its latest jewel, the Arcadia Droptail, an artistic expression of tranquility through design, engineering and craftsmanship. The third commission of the Coachbuild Droptail style, this vehicle stands as a celebration of the form and a tribute to personalized luxury.
From the complex construction of the clock that presides over the interior, to the wooden sections that required 8,000 hours of craftsmanship, the Arcadia Droptail is much more than a car; It is a masterpiece that fuses art with Rolls-Royce's own engineering.
The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is not just a car, it is a masterpiece that pays homage to the distinctive Droptail styling. This vehicle, which marks a new momentum in the history of unique Rolls-Royce cars by presenting this roadster body design where elegance is synonymous with tranquility and harmony.
Exterior design
He abroad The Arcadia Droptail is a symphony of carefully thought out details. Inspired by modernist design elements and the tropical architectural richness of places such as Singapore, Indonesia and Vietnam, its bodywork features a color palette unique duotone.
The solid white, infused with aluminum and glass particles, reveals itself as a fascinating canvas under natural light. This effect, meticulously achieved by Rolls-Royce specialists, gives the impression of infinite depth in the painting, creating a unique visual spectacle. Regarding its design, we see the lower sections of the Droptail, constructed from carbon fiber that are fully highlighted with a silver Bespoke instead of being left bare. This distinctive touch highlights the lightness and dynamism of the car while adding an extra nuance of luxury and exclusivity.
The bright details They are a distinctive feature of classic Rolls-Royces that fascinate the customer, and the Arcadia Droptail does not disappoint in this regard. The exterior grille, the 'V' shaped pieces and the 22-inch alloy wheels, all meticulously mirror-polished, pay tribute to the Rolls-Royce tradition and all the care taken to present perfect pieces in each car.
The nautical inspiration behind the «sail cowls» droptail adds a touch of grace and dynamism to the exterior design. These angular shapes, rising behind the doors and gently curving inward, evoke the image of the sails of a yacht. In addition to their visual impact, they fulfill an aerodynamic function by subtly directing attention to the car's occupants.
Interior design
The interior of the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is like immersing yourself in an atmosphere of opulence and refinement, where wood stands as the undisputed protagonist. Every detail of the cabin has been designed to reflect the unique vision of the client who commissioned the work; Every iota highlights the craftsmanship of Rolls-Royce, it is obvious.
The choice of the Santos Straight Grain wood for the interior it was not a whim, but a search for ideal texture, grain, color and richness. The use of this high-density material was a challenge for Rolls-Royce craftsmen; However, the result speaks for itself in the interior of the Arcadia Droptail.
Santos Straight Grain wood is a wood recognized for its pattern of grain interlockingunique and gives a more than special touch to the interior, from the dashboard to the functional aerodynamic rear section, the wood is arranged with precision, creating an exceptional visual and tactile experience. The rear section, where the wood grain is placed at a perfect 55° angle, is a testament to the mastery of craftsmanship that defines the Arcadia Droptail.
The extensive use of this wood implies the application of a total of 233 pieces throughout the vehicle, 76 of them destined only for the rear section. Since the Arcadia Droptail will be driven in various climates, including some tropical ones, special attention was paid to developing a protection system for the exterior wood surfaces.
Instead of opting for coatings used on luxury yachts, a special varnish was developed that requires a single application for the entire life of the car. This varnish was subjected to a rigorous testing process, exposing the wooden pieces to extreme cycles of humidity, heat and light for 1,000 hours. This extra effort, which took over 8,000 hours of development, ensures the long-term durability and beauty of the Santos Straight Grain wood in the Arcadia Droptail. The same as the black piano of my car, come on…
More luxury details: a watch
Like the Arcadia Droptail it is not only a car, but it is a rolling work of art. Rolls-Royce engineers have chosen to expand their quota of luxury by including an exceptionally complex watch. The watch face took more than two years to develop and was assembled in five months. This presents us with an intricate pattern guilloche and 0.1mm thick hour markers.
This watch, an integral part of the interior design, fuses watchmaking tradition with Rolls-Royce quality standards, even exceeding the expectations of the world of fine watchmaking. At this point, we don't know which costs more, the watch or the wood, but we agree on one thing: Rolls-Royce once again passes the luxury car game.
Engine
In another order of things, this car also moves and as you can imagine, it has a very good engine. As required, droptails focus more on luxury than performance, which is why Rolls-Royce does not promote the vehicle's propulsion system beyond a few brief details. But for those of you who want to know, this roadster uses the engine 6.6 liter V12 with the brand's twin turbocharger, which gives us 593 HP and 840 Nm of torque.
