In a world dominated by electrification and with fewer and fewer sports options comes the Skoda Octavia RS 2024. The sportiest version of the 2024 Octavia with the same formula for success, combining good performance with a sporty image without fanfare and practicality. Its price is 45,000 euros, which is not cheap… but it is a more powerful model than ever.
The top-of-the-range variant of the mid-size sedan is equipped with the gasoline engine 2.0 TSI 265 HPexclusively associated with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. Compared to the previous model – see test – it gains 20 hp, as the 2020 Octavia RS was limited to 245 hp. However, it loses the option of choosing it in diesel (there was a 200 hp 2.0 TDI with front and all-wheel drive) and, at least for now, it cannot be chosen with the plug-in hybrid version.
As we say in the title, it is the same engine that powers a Volkswagen Golf GTI, with which it also shares the chassis or the 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. Of course, the legendary compact has a starting price of 49,160 euros and is not as spacious inside nor does it have such a capable trunk, which reaches 49,160 euros. 600 liters in this sedan body.
Otherwise, it introduces the changes to the rest of the fourth generation Skoda Octavia range, with minor aesthetic changes, an interior with larger screens and a more efficient infotainment system and modernised driving assistance systems.
It is now available in new colours and with newly designed wheel designs. It also comes with more complete standard equipment than before, including adaptive suspension, 19-inch wheels, a head-up display, a rear spoiler and sports seats.
