The Stark Varg SM is one of those motorcycles that has enough technical capabilities to show off. In the case of the electric one and according to those responsible, it is the production supermotard motorcycle with the best power-to-weight ratio. But what is true?
Well, the truth is that its maximum power in the Alpha version is 80 HP and taking into account that its total weight is 124.5 kg, it leaves a ratio of 0.6 HP/kg, so they are right. But if the declared horsepower is spectacular, the torque is amazing: neither more nor less than 914 Nm. To put ourselves in perspective, the production supermotos that we can buy with gasoline have a maximum power slightly above 60 HP.
Part of the secret of the Stark Varg SM comes from the battery, made of magnesium with a 7.2 kWh honeycomb structure, which in turn acts as a structural element, improving the rigidity of the chassis. Thanks to this, in urban use, the Spanish-Swedish motorcycle can reach 183 km of autonomy in urban use, 118 in suburban use and 81 in the WMTC cycle.
To fully recharge the battery using the 3.3 kW portable charger, which is portable, light enough to carry in a backpack and compatible with household outlets or AC car chargers, it takes around two hours.
The Stark Varg SM is approved for street use
But there is more and that is that although the Stark Varg SM is an electric motorcycle. And as with Stark Future’s offroad models, there is no attempt to reinvent the wheel and it is committed to a high-strength steel chassis, a forged aluminum subframe and machined seat posts as the main axis of a top-level cycle part.
And KYB is in charge of the suspensions with a fully adjustable 48 mm closed cartridge front fork with 290 mm of travel, while the rear shock absorber has triple adjustment and 303 mm of travel. To this we must also add the Brembo brakes, with a four-piston radial monobloc caliper and a 320 mm floating disc at the front and a 220 mm disc at the rear.
As it is a motorcycle that, after all, is designed to ride on the street and is in fact approved to do so in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and some areas of the United States (without specifying which ones), the tires are also important. That is why although the Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV is fitted as standard, you can also choose as an option the Dunlop Sportsmart TT for greater performance, the Michelin Road 6 for cold or wet conditions and the Anlas Grip Plus for extreme climates.
Also thinking about street use, it includes a reverse mode, an Arkenstone screen with functions such as navigation, selection between driving modes (commuter, stunt and track weapon) and driving data analysis.
The marketing price of the Stark Varg SM starts at 12,990 euros for the version limited to 60 HP and goes up to €13,990 for the 80 HP version.
