The Piaggio group has recently requested the registration of its new extreme variant of the RSV4. Under the acronym X GP We could be talking about the special and limited edition, manufactured by Aprilia, closer to what is currently a MotoGP. In fact, this could use technical solutions and some of the components that the Italian company mounts in the RS-GP that participates this season in the Motorcycle World Cup.
APRILIA X GP 2026: Extreme sportsmanship “Made in Italy”
Reviewing the chapters of the acronym “X” within the recent history of Aprilia, we can observe how the Transalpina brand launched the first model of this saga in the 2019 season, in a very limited special edition of 10 specimens, using the common platform that is used to give life to its RSV and Tuono models. Then, the excuse of that technological and sports deployment was none other than to celebrate 10 years in the market of its Superbike model.
That RSV4 X aprilia, with 225 hp of power for only 165 kilograms of weight declared in dry, included a complete fairing carbon fiber and a multitude of parts made of aluminum or magnesium, such as the very slight marchesini forged tires. The graphics of this limited circulation motorcycle were inspired by the MotoGP that year. With her, a healthy tradition began by Aprilia, to offer her followers the possibility of acquiring this exclusive version “X” of his sports model.
By 2022 the Italian firm returned for its fueros with the RSV4 Xtrenta aprilia. 230 hp and 166 kg were their presentation cards, under a limited series of only 100 copies. In it then stood out an incredible aerodynamics characteristic of MotoGP based on a configuration of front and rear spoilers. With this iconic special edition, the 30 years of the first world title in Aprilia was also held, although its base rate of 50,000 euros destined it to delight a few lucky ones.
We arrive with this temporary tour of last year’s last bars. Then the launch of the RSV4 x ex3ma is formalized: “maximum technological expression in the most powerful RSV4 in history.” The brand announced the commercialization of only 30 copies at the rate of almost 100,000 euros each. De facto, it became the most sophisticated motorcycle presented by April to date.
Romano AlbesianTechnical Director of Aprilia Racing, commented at that time: “This motorcycle is the most extreme evolution of the program that we begin with the aim of transferring the most advanced technology to our clients, directly from our career department. The transfer of careers technology to users is mentioned very often, but nowhere is as concrete as in Prildia Racing.”
Now, thanks to Motorcycle’s colleagues, we have been aware of how Aprilia has requested the registration of the acronym “X GP” before the European authorities. It is possible to think that the brand already works or even has almost ready, the new generation of the “X” series.
Likewise, letting ourselves be guided by the evolution of it, most likely we are facing the birth of the mounting more similar to their RS-GP that those of Noale have manufactured to date, although all this remains in the air until the brand itself is mentioned on the subject officially.
