Toprak turns the tortilla, new triplet and gets leader

After the weekend of the WSBK in Donington Park it is clear that we have a championship, that there is fighting and that the battle between Toprak Razgatlioglu and Nicolo Bulega is at their peak. Seven rounds have taken the Turk to recover the lost points at the start of the season, and has finally achieved it thanks to a new brilliant performance throughout the weekend.

We still have the final part of the season, but what seems to be one hundred percent for sure is that only Razgatlioglu and Bulega have options to fight for the title. While the others continue to fight each other, although this weekend there have been some pilots who have shone with their own light, in addition to the Turkish and the Italian.

SBK Donington – Carrera 1: Toprak shines, Bulleta traces

The fall left Bautista and Lowes without options in the first race

On this occasion the script of the race seemed to be different. In Donington Alex Lowes and the Bimota were strong and, in fact, the British got in front of the beginning with toprak nearby but without approaching excessively, measuring the terrain. But the race was down Bmw’s Turkish when Alex went to the ground and left him in front.

From that moment on, Toprak began to impose his rhythm to add seconds of advantage, while Bulega was going back to the second final square ahead of Danilo Petrucci.

Of course, to the battle for the podium there were two great protagonists, because in the first curve a touch of Yari Montela to Sam Lowes took both to the ground and, as a gift, to a Álvaro Bautista who had nothing to do with the action, but that ended up falling too.

This left out of the fight for both Spanish and Lowes and deprived a career in which Locatelli ended fourth, Rea (in his best result of the year) fifth, with a scott redding that is suffering more than expected this year with the sixth position.

After Saturday’s rhythm, the truth is that everyone was aware of Toprak’s performance and the Turk did not fail. He took out the sponator for a walk and on a clue where peak speed and acceleration are not so important imposed its rules to achieve victory.

Meanwhile, Bulega managed to minimize the loss with a second position that he can know little but the truth is that he is knowing how to manage for now the situation to achieve as many points as possible when he cannot win. After Saturday’s disaster, Sam Lowes climbed to the Sprint Race podium enduring the pressure of Álvaro Bautista, who began the way to redemption after Saturday’s disappointment with the fourth place. Andea Locatelli and Jonathan Rea were fifth and sixth respectively.

After a weekend that was being perfect, it was necessary to finish off the play and Razgatlioglu did not fail in Donington to get his third consecutive triplet, the room of the season and his tenth second victory in the British layout. A good exit and from that moment to manage the race while behind the rest they fought.

And the one who had to fight was Nicolo Bulega, who had to go back after a bad race start. We do not know what would have happened if the Italian had gone better during this weekend, but there is no doubt that it is something he has played against him even though he has minimized failures with the three second positions.

Álvaro Bautista, who is still in direct struggle with Petrucci for the third place in the championship, achieved a great third position, also crossing a goal very close to his teammate. One more show that the Talaverano is determined to continue pushing with everything not only to finish third this year, but to have the best possible motorcycle by 2026. Locatelli, Petrucci and Gerloff completed the Top6.
