LiveWire has recently announced the launch of its new S2 Alpinist under the description “Designed for customization, practicality and dominance, the Alpinista is essential for daily commuting and performance. Set the standard for urban driving and beyond, so make every second count.”. The date that the Californian firm has set on the calendar is next January 15, 2025.
The new S2 Alpinista will thus become the brand’s fourth model, joining the already well-known S2 Del Mar, S2 LiveWire One and Mulholland. Everything indicates that it will be the latter that most resembles it, according to the images they offer us in a small launch teaser video that they have published on their official website.
LiveWire S2 Alpinista: What we know and can expect
Returning to the camouflaged images offered by the LiveWire filming, we can confirm that the S2 Alpinista could be equipped with a larger windshield than the Mulholland, as well as side cases signed by the Germans from SW-Motech. The rearview mirrors, or the rear license plate support, are also very similar to those used by the latter.
However, a somewhat higher rear part is perceived, and may include a seat for the passenger. Beyond these details and according to the information collected by Motorcycle colleagues, after obtaining some of the homologation data from the brand in Switzerland, we know that the new S2 Alpinista will offer specifications identical to the other models in the S2 range. from LiveWire.
This translates into a nominal power of 40 HP and 263 Nm of maximum torque. The brand declares a top speed of 159 km/hwith an official empty weight, which will be around 195 kilograms. However, unlike the Mulholland, the S2 Alpinista would be equipped with a 17” rim on the frontfor the 19-inch one used by its range sister. The certification data indicates a front tire measuring 120/70 ZR17, while a 180/55 R17 is mounted at the rear.
Regarding the chosen commercial name, it continues to be related as in the rest of the brand’s models, with terms that refer to geography. In this case, the term “alpinist” is related to the word “mountaineer” and associated with the multiple uses of the phrase “via ferrata”, referring to the various climbing routes that we can find in the Alps.
Everything indicates that the new S2 Alpinista seems to be more focused on the European markets, although this is something that has yet to be confirmed. Both the French and American divisions announce on their respective websites the official presentation of the model.
In any case, we will have to patiently wait until next January 15 to see what the Californian brand surprises us with.
