The Grand Prix Commission has decided to launch a series of changes in the MotoGP Sports Regulations, with the intention of improving some deficiencies. In this case there are two and affect situations that we have lived in this season, and on which they have discussed during the months of March and April.
The Great Prix Commission is the organ that ensures the update of the norms, and is composed of representatives of all interested parties, who are currently: Paul Duparc (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA), Biense Bierma (MSMA) and Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), in the presence of Jorge Viegas (Fim President), Mike Webb Irta, Secretary of the Meeting), Carlos Ezpeleta (Dorna), Cecchinelli Corrado (director of Technology), Paul King (FIM CCR Director) and Dominique Hebrard (FIM Cti Technical Manager).
Of the two measures they have taken, one is a direct reaction to what we live in the Grand Prix of the Americas, where in the doubt of the tires and the situation of the asphalt, following the regulation Marc Márquez left his motorcycle on the grill, and ran out for the second to start from the Pitlane.
There were so many pilots who followed Marc that the exit of the race was paralyzed and restarted the procedure, so both Márquez and the rest of the pilots who followed him could re -occupied his position on the starting grill.
Now, with the change introduced by the Grand Prix Commission, any pilot who leaves the output grill, for the reason that a technical failure is included, will start the heating return from the Pitlane to rejoin to his grill post when starting the race. But then he must meet two “Long Laps”.
The Grand Prix Commission justifies this decision in which it is not possible to verify whether the motorcycle change is for strategic or, really, there is a mechanical problem and thus simplify the system while avoiding that whoever succeeds with the choice of tires loses the advantage.
Of course, in the event that more than 10 pilots had to take out the race, not from the heating return, from the Pitlane will continue to act in the same way as now. All these decisions affect the three categories.

The Grand Prix Commission yields to the pressures of Aprilia after Martín’s injury
When Jorge Martín was preparing his return to MotoGP after the double preseason lesion, Aprilia strongly requested that the Madrid pilot could try a MotoGP alleging security reasons.
MotoGP are very demanding machines and, therefore, being in a good physical condition is fundamental. This is something that was seen in Qatar’s GP, when Martin had complications during the weekend. So from now on all injured pilots who have lost three or more consecutive events or have not been able to participate in events for at least 45 consecutive days, will have a test day with a motorcycle motorcycle.
It is not a mandatory but optional measure, and will be allowed in “A circuit where the manufacturer is allowed to test according to its rules of concession or choice of circuits, or in a circuit where no other MotoGP Grand Prix is planned after that test in the same season“Of course, the test cannot be held within eight weeks before a GP that is played on that track. In addition, they will have a maximum of three games.
Finally, the Grand Prix Commission has also made public that manufacturers have reached an agreement so that manufacturers do not test their 2027 motorcycles during the 2025 season. That is, before November 17, 2025 no manufacturer will put on track the 2027 models.
