The least successful name in the sector has its days numbered

There are inappropriate names in the motor sector. Throughout history we have seen cars that were almost unnameable, some with unfortunate meanings and others that were difficult to fit. In recent times, alphanumeric denominations are the order of the day and there are many combinations of letters and numbers. None as incomprehensible as that of the Toyota bZ4Xwhich also has to be written with a combination of lowercase and uppercase letters that many still do not use. Luckily, his days are numbered…

Apparently, the Japanese brand will change the name of its controversial electric SUV and also the rest of the models that were going to arrive under that name. The acronym bZ referred to the “beyond Zero” slogan that talks about the emissions of electric cars. The number 4 was because of its size (he had also planned a bZ3X) and the X is because it is a crossover. However, they have realized that it’s hard to pronounce. In Spanish it is “bezetacuatroequis”, but in the native language it would be “bisedforex”…

This was recently confirmed by Patrick Ryan, director of Toyota Canada. It looks like the Toyota bZ4XIt will stop being called that from 2026. During the year 2025 it will continue with the current name because some information has already been published, but from then on an update could arrive that will change its name. The truth is that luck has not accompanied precisely to Toyota’s electric one. Since its launch there have already been certain doubts due to production delays and failures in the first units.

So far this year They have sold only 342 units in Spain of the Toyota bZ4X, being one of the worst in this sense. Logically there are some like the Supra, GR 86 or Camry that are behind; But it is clear that the electric car has a long way to go. The qualities are not bad and when we tried it we were surprised by the capacity of its all-wheel drive. He also boasts of Autonomies exceeding 500 kilometers in the version with front wheel drive and large battery. We will see what the future holds for this specimen.
