Achieving excellence in any facet of life is not a simple undertaking. However, when two leaders in the motorcycle world get to work, the path becomes less arduous and complicated and, sometimes, the result is usually what was expected. This is precisely the case of the recent collaboration between Yamaha Málaga Center and Ramón Forcada and their recently presented PURE 01.
PURA 01: Unique in its kind (for now)
They say from Yamaha Málaga Center that their main objective, in business terms, “is to optimize and perfect Yamaha models until they reach their peak of evolution, taking advantage of the resources of being the largest Yamaha dealer in Europe.” However, with their recently presented PURA 01 they take this work philosophy one step further.
If you don’t believe me, take a look at the gallery of images of the bike and, in addition to almost certainly ending up getting your keyboard wet (with slime), you will be able to glimpse the immense and meticulous work carried out by its creators to achieve the final result that they now show us.
As they explain themselves “For the Pura project, Forcada works alongside our engineers, mechanics and development department, contributing their technical genius to create the best possible motorcycle from Yamaha’s most iconic street models.”
To this we must add a list of components that takes away the hiccups. With all of them, two clear objectives have been sought: Reduce the initial weight of the model as much as possible and improve its Offroad behavior in any situation and under any demand. The PURA 01 announces a power increase of 9 HP and a weight reduction of 20 kilos compared to the series model.
To achieve this, the PURA 01 development team has provided everything they needed to turn the idealized motorcycle in the minds of its creators into a reality. Among the main modifications and improvements, we can highlight:
- Full body made of ultra-light R-Tech plastic with non-slip central part
- Ohlins Limited Edition Suspensions
- Excel Takasago Tires
- GYTR complete braking
- Brembo brake master cylinder
- Complete Akrapovič titanium line
- GTYR electronics, ECU Stage II map and control unit reprogramming, etc.
The list continues with an endless number of top-level elements, carbon accessories and, ultimately, equipment that makes this PURA 01 a unique motorcycle. This last statement becomes literal, since at the moment this is the first and only unit of this special series of the Ténéré 700. In fact, on the official Yamaha Málaga Center website they inform us that Ramón Forcada is already working on the PURE 02.
A preparation, by the way, that Lorenzo Santolino, seven-time Spanish champion, three-time world champion and Dakar driver, has been able to test firsthand and who, it seems, has also been quite surprised with the performance offered by this PURA 01.
